Re: would it be tacky to have a colored dress instead of the traditional white....

  • Absolutely not. Women only started wearing white wedding dresses after Queen Victoria wore one to her wedding in 1840. And they didn't even really catch on until the 20th century. Those women in the 19th century and earlier certainly were not "tacky." So wear whatever you feel best in.
  • I'm wearing gold, if everything goes as planned. Laughing
  • It's totally fine.  Check out offbeatbride.com for some awesome colored gowns.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • if you like it go for it! i think it sounds beautiful, I;m wearing pink by the way!
  • Not at all!  Its your wedding and you should wear whatever makes you feel the most beautiful and comfortable!  I say go for it!!
  • Wear whatever color you feel comfortable in. When you think about it how many women wear an all white outfit or dress any other time??? I think colored dresses can look quite wonderful and brings out the brides personality. There is no rule you have to wear white so if you want to wear navy then I say go for it.
