Entirely Outdoors

My wedding will be in October in Tennesse and the temperature can range during that time of year (from 80 to 40 degrees). My ceremony and reception will be entirely outdoors. What would be the best way let everyone know to dress according to the weather?

Re: Entirely Outdoors

  • I don't think you need to tell people this. People will look at the weather and decide what to wear from there.

You could let them know that everything will be outdoors and indicate formality or other dress information on your wedding website. But, it would not be a good idea to put this information on the invitations.
  • Most adults will have the common sense to know what attire to wear according to the weather. They should be able to tell from your invitation that the ceremony is outside and that your reception is inside, and most will check the forecast knowing it's outdoors.
  • I Know most people the have common sence to look it up. I decided to give the guests a heads up on the weather for my area on my Wedding Website under the Guest Information Page. This is what I wrote for the Attire section(since I do not want to put such information on the invitation):

The Wedding is Daytime Formal/ Semi - Formal

Autumn in the Austin area is a pleasant season, with warm and sunny weather during the day and a cooler climate at night. The temperature can range anywhere from 60 to 85 degrees during the day. Pack for nice weather but don't forget to bring that sweater or jacket just in case.
