altering my gown PIP

So I have Dominique by Maggie Sottero, which I have listed for sale, but on the likely chance it won't sell, I am considering altering it.  I am just wondering if anyone thinks what I would like to do is even possible.  Here is what it looks like now...(pardon my face, I had no idea my picture was being taken!)

I don't know about the alterations (maybe the pick-ups could be let down and the dress could be gathered up and a gem added?), but I do love your dress on you as is, and I don't think it is that far off from the picture.

I'm not seamstress, but that looks like a GIANT change. May be possible since there looks to be very little beading, but it looks like it would be difficult.
