Help!! Having dress anxiety for June wedding!

HI all,

So I am getting married this June, and my mom was nice enough to buy me a beautiful (and expensive) dress at Kleinfelds.  It is the augusta jones waverly, somewhat unique dress  http://fashionbride.wordpress.com/2009/04/06/contemporary-gowns-by-augusta-jones/

(without the black belt i have a crystal one)

The thing is I felt a little pressured into it and now am now sure.  Its unique and cool for my beach wedding (indoor reception/outdoor ceremony), but i kind of wish i was doing something more classic.  Should i run out and get a different dress for the ceremony and have that be the reception dress?  I am really stressing over this.

  • I think it's gorgeous and perfect for what you're planning.  Stick with it.

  • I think it's pretty perfect. It's got the lace and chiffon which is very traditional, plus, it's whimsical and breezy perfect for a beach ceremony.

  • That dress is gorgeous and goes well with what you described, I think the dress will look lovely

  • I think it's beautiful and will be really nice for your beach wedding. You could get another dress for the reception, if it's in your budget and you have time (you probably wouldn't have time to order something, but JCrew or Nordstroms or even a clearance sale at a boutique would probably work really well) I guess go for it. I personally wouldn't wear a second, but if you want to, go for it.

You guys are sweet and its good to hear positive feedback.  I think its because two of my bridesmaids made a comment along the lines of  "oh its nice, but its more bridal to wear a poufier skirt".   That started me second guessing myself.
  • Love it!!  It will be perfect for both.

Umm, no.  There are a lot more styles to bridal than a ball gown.  You don't have to be a puff ball to be a bride.

Don't listen to that.  I was told the same thing by one of my BM about my dress (which is a trumpet and not at all poufy), but that's their personal preference to wear poufy.  Your dress is amazing!  Great pick.

don't let your BM's change your mind. if you love it, that's all that matters. I think the dress is beautiful and works perfectly for what you are envisioning for your wedding. love it.

Funny you say that. I have been second guessing my dress choice for this exact reason. I keep thinking to myself, shouldn't it be bigger or poofier to be more bridal? And it really isn't... it's what you love. And that dress is amazing, so don't second guess your choice from other people's comments! :)
  • Poofy =/= bridal, ignore your BM's!   Especially for a beach wedding, I think this is a perfect silhouette.

It's a gorgeous dress with classic fabrics and the beaded belt will make it look even more timeless IMO.
