Snarky Brides

Ok, I have ingredients...help me make something.

I'm trying something new and I want to make some smoothies. I have frozen fruit (blueberries, strawberries, and mixed), coconut milk, whey and plain yogurt.

I dont have an actual recipe so help me make it!

  • I'd probably take everything but the yogurt and toss it in the blender together, maybe with some added fruit juice and spinach.  I love green smoothies.  It's a great way to get the nutrients and the fruit covers the taste of whatever greens you use.  You can always just use what you have though.  Sounds yummy.

  • Thanks guys, this is great!

Jackie-I expected better of a doctor! Whey protein powder.

I'm going to add these to Anna's suggestions. Yes I threw out the Anna flag!

  • I'd do

    1C Coconut milk
    about 1/3 C yogurt(4oz, whatever)
add in any additives like whey, flax(2tsp), or chia seeds(1T),
up to a cup of frozen mixed berries.

in the blender in that order. If you like things a tad sweeter, a tsp of honey would go well.

I also have an oatmeal smoothie that seriously keeps me full from breakfast to lunch, and a banana and peanut butter smoothie on my blog.  They were January posts.

  • The berry and oatmeal one is so good!

    My take on it is:
    .25 cup oatmeal
.5 cup greek yogurt (whatever kind you want.  I use 2% Vanilla)
    .5 cup OJ
.75 cup frozen berries (I usually use strawberries, but sometimes I throw in some raspberries too)
.5 frozen banana (fresh is fine too)
a handful or two of spinach
some honey to taste (I think I use about 1 tsp)
Then I blend it all up, and then add some ice and blend again.  Blending everything first and THEN adding the ice is the key to the ice actually blending and not making you want to throw the blender across the room.  You know, unless you actually have something awesome like a magic bullet or Vitamix.

You can add protein powder too.  I add protein powder when I use milk or regular yogurt instead of greek.  I don't need it with Greek though.
