Snarky Brides

Chicago...

DH and I are planning a short trip to Chicago this summer (5 days total, 2 days on the road, 3 days solid in Chicago/area).

What should we see? Any areas to avoid? :)

Re: Chicago...

  • I love Chicago.  Navy Pier is cool - they used to have a summer concert series.  The Field Museum is very good, if you like natural history museums (and it's free one day a week, maybe Monday or Tuesday).

  • Zomg I love Chicago! The only suggestion I have is to go to Chinatown, it's fun. And there's a fantastic Italian restaurant next door to the Bottom Lounge. I can't remember the name of it, but go there. It's tasty.
  • There's going to be a gtg there next year, MILF. Plan for a long weekend!

  • I also may come up to your area soon, Mara. I need to go shopping and my options down here are the suck.

Make sure you visit the famous Bean in Millineum Park, Willis (Sears) Tower, Navy Pier is so much fun. They have a Bubba Gump restaurant that I love. Depending on when you are coming, you can go to the Taste of Chicago which is usually the last week of June until the 4th of July.

ETA: You can also go to the Chicago website and see when the summer concerts are. Maybe you can come around the time someone is going to be here that you would like to see.

And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image

Like Fort Wayne? I'll be in Indy on November 14 for a Colts game.
  • The  Lincoln Park Zoo is fun and free.  I used to live in Lincoln Park and loved it oh so much.

Chicago pizza is a must!! I recommend Lou Malnati's, Ginos or Unos.  Or all of them...

Millennium Park and Navy Pier are awesome spots too.  Or shopping on Michigan Ave.  There's sooo much to do, I promise you won't be bored!

  • woo hoo! I am just excited to go somewhere that we haven't been before. We are planning only three weeks in St. Lucia this summer (last year we did four weeks, the two summers before I did six, and three my first summer!).  That still leaves us with enough time to do 5 days at the cottage, 5 days in Chicago and 5 days in Montreal/Quebec City to see my family!  I am not even through the second month of school and I am already planning our summer away!

[QUOTE]I forgot to add the following: - Water Tower mall - The Signature Room at the Hancock tower. It's on the 95th floor, it's definitely a little pricey but the views are unbelievably amazing and the food was fantastic. I'm also one of those people who splurges a bit while on vacation so take that FWIW! Here's a picture one of my friend's took....

LOVED The Signature Room. I am terrified of heights and the elevator goes so fast its freaky, but totally worth it! We did only get one drink because it was so expensive but I loved the experience.

  • Something to be aware of..don't come to the city for shopping.  10% sales tax is the WORST.  Just an FYI! :)
It's time. Adoption saving and process started in November 2012.
