Present and Future Moms

All- Childrens Place is having a Monster Sale (40% off) and extra 15% code- REAL79How old and what size is your kid in now?  Is it dumb to buy clothes now for next season?  Its just so cheap.

Re: Present and Future Moms

  • Thanks!  I was just realizing that Andy has almost grown out of the majority of his clothes now. Andy is 11 months old.  I am now buying 18 month sizes.  Children's Place is pretty good with their sizing.  Gerber is freaking insane.  They run so stupidly small.  When he turned 9 months, I bought some pjs in 18 months.  They were like a skin tight leotard on him.  He actually had clevage.Children's Place has this Monster Sale a couple of times a year I believe.  Before you get too much for the next season, you might want to wait to see if Grant is a bigger or smaller kid.  But this is just coming from a mom with a tank of a child.
  • Another way of saying what I just said, but clearer: get basics that would be good year-round, buy more closer to the actual season once you know his size.

"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • Maggie is 13 months, about 20 pounds and wears 12 month clothes, but still fits into some 9 month stuff. The only concern I'd have is there's a big difference between 12 month and 18 month sized stuff so it depends how big of a kid he is. I bought some 18 month rompers on clearance last summer and there's no way she'll wear them this summer.

  • I am kind of picky about what we have Andy wear.  Before he was born, my husband and I used to snicker at the fact that my brother put his boys in sweat pants all of the time.  We always said there was no way our kid was going to be wearing sweats all of the time. Well, fast forward a year and all we put Andy in are onesies and cotton stretch pants.  I love onesies because regular shirts creep up and expose his belly too much.  I understand he may not look all dapper in his outfits, but hey, neither do I.My kid is WT and I am not ashamed.
  • I totally meant to wrap that up into a point. You may find that certain types of clothes work better for you than others.  It's cool to have a bunch of hand-me-downs that may not be your style, but you might want to save your money until you know what he is comfortable in.
  • I must have a tank of a kid too, because Connor has always worn a size much bigger than his age. Buying season specific clothes for a future age did not work at all for us. He also wears a diff size top than bottoms. Polos could always be layerEd with long sleeve undershirts though so you're probably good.

I always buy clearance stuff for noodie, but I also live in a place where he can wear the same general type of clothes most of the year, except for a couple months in the winter. I think it's a great idea but would agree that you should wait to see what his growth rate is. Matt has been pretty predictable so far, which has helped.

  • My sister always loved CP clothes... she said they were durable and didn't fade too much.  And their sales are good. That's all I got.

  • Will is 13 months and in either 18 or 24 month stuff, depending on the brand. We buy some stuff ahead if there's a good sale, but not winter stuff. Before he was born we bought some 6 month stuff for him to wear when we went up north for Thanksgiving and Christmas. None of it fit and we had to get new warm clothes. I gave birth to a tank.
