I haven't listened to the audio part. There was a good segment on Morning Edition today about Canada's system and the misconceptions American's have. I don't think it's on the website yet, but it's worth a listen.

Did anyone else notice that 40% of the folks who received care that day were enrolled in Medicaid or Medicare?

I assume that 40% corresponds to the 40% of dental and eye exams performed.  Most states don't include dental and vision on medicaid, I don't think.

Hm. I might be missing something but the "by the numbers" sidebar indicates that nearly 100% of the patients who were seen received a medical exam, and in addition to that some received dental and eye care. Which would mean that roughly 40% of the people who got medical exams are enrolled in medicaid or medicare and are entitled to conventional medical care. Or am I misreading something?I am also curious of the 51% of uninsureds how many are eligible for medicaid in their states.
