Ellen for American Idol?

I love her, don't get me wrong, but this just seemed a very bizarre choice for a permanent judge.Anyone else?

I think they're looking for a ratings boost. I love Ellen and will take her wherever I can get her.

I'm sure it's for ratings. I love Ellen. I will watch her for sure. But I agree that I don't understand how this fits. Does she have any knowledge about music and vocals?

I heard part of an interview with her this morning and she said her point of view is as one of the people that sit home and watch Idol and will actually be buying the music. She said she isn't into the technical aspect of it but will be looking at it from a regular persons point of view.  Still an odd choice, though.

but really, does paula abdul have any knowledge about music and vocals?  i agree she should, but it never really seemed that way from her critiques of, well, really anyone.  i'm sure ellen can do a comparable job.  that show is less about "music" and more about marketing anyway.  if ellen says she likes something, everyone else will magically like it too.at any rate, i never really made a point to watch AI before, and now i probably will.  i want to be BFF with her.

I think they're making a big mistake.  If they really want to replace Paula, they need to pull someone out of rehab and give them a bunch of booze and pills before each show.
