I have a cold with a very snotty nose (it's always worse in pregnancy) and my office mate packed up her stuff and went to another workspace for the day. No offense, she said! I don't blame her. I can't afford to take any sick time as I need it for my stingy maternity leave, plus I don't have a fever so it's nothing serious but I totally am that co-worker today. I hate that. Even though there were multiple people here last week with the same thing and several folks today who are sick.

i fear getting a cold at this point. i am terrible sick. I got the stomach flu the first week I knew I was pregnant and ended up in the hospital. I have been a handwashing, hand sanitizing freak.Sorry you are sick. :(Hope you get better.

Working from home not an option? That sucks, I hope you feel better soon.  I'm knocking on every piece of wood around me that I will stay healthy through this winter.

I've been super paranoid too, Winged.  My hands are chapped from the frequent washing. But Maggie's got this cold (and it turns out a double ear infection) so it was certain that I wind up with it. Yesterday Mike came home from work and asked "is that snot on your shoulder?" She'd been wiping her nose on me all day and I didn't even notice. I feel like an arse since I've been grousing about my co-workers coming in sick and here I am doing the same thing.

This is why I'm glad my company doesn't limit sick time (within reason). I sneezed/coughed a couple of times in a meeting this morning and got some very dirty looks.  I got a second round of dirty looks when they came to give us flu vaccines and the nurse said I was the only one eligible for the H1N1 vaccine.  Do you want me to get sick or not people?

They brought H1N1 to your work? That is a pretty sweet set up.I go to the free clinic this afternoon to get mine. I went this morning and got an "appointment" slip for 2pm.

Word, SB. But some people (and I'm thinking of one in particular) still won't use it. Dude, we get 15 days a year!

I am in the high risk group too and northern Kentucky doesn't have the shots yet. It's driving me crazy. I want it before I go back to work. The girls get their first RSV shot this week too.

Yeah, we just have the nasal spray right now though.  We have a health service center on site, with a NP and everything.  It's really nice for small stuff to just be able to go up there and see them really quick.  We can get flu shots and H1N1 vaccines (high risk only right now, I'm just under the wire at 24) there, and they can also bring them to departmental meetings.  I actually had mine last week, but they brought a list of eligible people with them today, I guess so people couldn't lie about their age?

Babbs, as I understand it in KY the OB's and pedis will have the vaccine, right? I have to deal with the scummy Cincinnati Health Department. Ugh. All they have right now is the nasal vaccine which I can't take.

I think that's how it's going to work. We will get it from our pedi. I could probably call my OB and get it there though.

My company is giving out Tamiflu to everyone. This I don't understand, but everyone gets it if they want it.

Might be worth a call, at least. Mike had to take Maggie to the pedi this AM and I told him not to let her touch anything since they have a communal waiting room, the only thing I don't like about the practice. I don't need her picking up any other bugs between our colds and her ears!

I had to take Ian to a doctor's appointment at the hospital this morning, and there are so many kids there to be seen with H1N1 or seasonal flu they have to move his GI clinic so they have more beds.  Then a kid in the elevator tried to touch him and his mother didn't try to stop him.  This mother did, though.

My pedi does sick kids in the afternoon and morning appointments go to well patients. I love, love that setup.

That's pretty sweet, Babbs. I felt terrible not going along today but since I'm sickly and they want pregnant women to wear masks in the office anyway so Mike was fine to do it alone. He said three of the pedi's own children had H1N1 and that she strongly suggests we get the vaccine for Maggie, it's pretty intense when they are sick with it apparently.

Our pedi does a similar set-up Babbs.  Last week I had to bring Ian during the sick time for a follow-up and a nurse came out to the parking lot and brought us in the back door so he never had to be in the waiting room with the sickies.

That's awesome Kay. I am terrified of the H1N1, I am glad we have childcare from someone's home than a center.

Babbs, can you go to where Kristen got her shot?And, can the girls get the shots, or how old do babies have to be?

I don't think I can because she is in Ohio and I am in Kentucky. I am not sure how it works. The girls are too young, but when I get the shots I can pass antibodies to them through breast milk. Kristen, when you start feeling better I would love to see the pg you and have you meet my little ladies.

I don't see why you couldn't get it in OH.  It's worth a try. I'd love to see the girls too, once I'm healthy. I'm certainly showing, much more than I was the first time.
