BM Dress Problem!

One of my bridesmaid's dresses will not zip!!!

All of my girls gave me their measurements, then my MOH/sister called Alfred Angelo and ordered the dresses.  She gave the saleslady the measurements, and they talked through sizes together.  Well, now that the dresses are in, one of my bridesmaids (very apologetically) texts me that it will not zip and she doesn't know what to do.  She said the hook and eye at the top will close, but the last 2-3 inches just will not zip.  She's pretty sure her measurements were correct, and they were halfway between two sizes, and so we ordered the larger of the two.  I'm going to call Alfred Angelo tomorrow to see what we can do because I really think the dress is mis-sized.  (I think this because the ladies at AA measured me and said I was that same size, but it would not zip on me either!)  I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or if you had encountered this situation before.

If AA can't help you, then you want to try a seamstress to see if they can help you out.  Is there enough time before your wedding to re-order her dress?

Yes, my wedding isn't until November... but I don't want to pay for a second dress (well, my parents - they are taking care of the bridal party's attire).

The exact same thing happened to my BM who bought her dress at David's. She had it rush ordered, and it came in about 3 weeks later. When she went to try it on, she couldn't zip it. She was SO upset because she already feels like she's gained weight.

But, logically, there's no way she could have gained that much weight in 3 weeks. I think the problem was that the floor sample she tried on probably was so stretched out, that when she got the true size, it wasn't quite big enough.

I told her to take it back, we had enough time to rush order her a bigger size. But, she refused to do that. So, she went on a diet and lost about 5 lbs and she said now it zips up fine...whatever floats her boat. I would have just sent it back if it were me! We still have 7 weeks, and it only takes about 2-3 to rush order one.

You shouldn't have to pay for a whole new dress. They should be able to exchange it for another size at no charge.
