Backstory - We are still trying to sell Scott's old car. It's bluebooked at $5k but needs engine work so we have listed it for $3k in the local auto trade thing (it's only put up for like, 3 days at a time) and since it's still here we're going to put in on CL. I'm hesistant to use CL because we don't like the idea of total strangers coming to our house to see the car and my own paranoia about scams and killers and such.
So...what would be the best payment option for CL? Just say "cash only"? I was thinking cashier's check but then CL was saying that those are easily faked and we would be responsible if it was fake and we can't take a $3k hit because of a scam artist.
I'm also thinking of having potential buyers meet at a park by our house, good idea or stupid?
