nickandmerritt!

Hi!  How have you been?  How is the wedding planning going?  Are you planning it all long distance from Chicago?

I was checking out your planning bio, and the pocket watch you got Nick is beautiful!  I love that you did that.  I did the same thing for Jim.  I got him a Clint Orms belt buckle, and engraved "love and laughter forever and always" on the back.

Oh! and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the shoes!

    Hey!  Thanks!

Things are going well--we are planning from afar and finally got some more big stuff knocked out over the holidays while we were in town.  Our reception is at a hotel so that we have less DIY stuff to worry about, so that has helped a lot.  The only big thing I have been procrastinating on is booking my hair and makeup--that one is stressing me out for some reason.  But otherwise things are coming along!

I love the belt buckle idea, and that is a really sweet inscription!  How are all of your plans coming?  Your date is close to ours, just a few weeks later, small world!  Can't wait to see how it all turns out, and I'm happy you found such a pretty dress!

Thanks Merritt!  I'm actually in awe of the dress I found... I procrastinated on the dress, because I was so sure I would find NOTHING.  but wow, I found the one, its surreal. Your dress is beautiful!  so spunky and different... I'm jealous of your spunk, haha.  I'm so traditional, its insane.

Let me know if you need any help.  Of course you have this network of Knotties to help too.  But ya know, we are connected somehow, LOL.

My plans are coming together. I was just layed off, which sounds terrible, but to be honest, its a blessing.  With school, and choosing law schools and planning a move, and Jim looking for a teaching job wherever I go to law school.  Its been crazy.  So now that I'm not working I can spend that time on wedding planning.

Are you planning any trips to Dallas between now and the wedding.  You can book a few trial runs with a few different hairstylists while your here.  My hair stylist is in Plano, if you want to give her a try. Definitely get some recommendations from the knot board.

I'm a little stressed about makeup too!  I don't know if I should trust someone to do mine, or do it myself.... its a battle. LOL

Glad to hear that the lay-off didn't set you back too much.  I've been in a similar position where I got laid off from a job I hated at just the right time, so I hear you.

Who is your hair stylist?  I have lots of people bookmarked from knotties, but I just haven't followed up on researching/contacting, etc.  I need to get on that!  We're going to be in town a week before the wedding, and I don't know if we'll have to plan another visit before that.  We just found out that the coordinator at our reception venue left, so we will probably want to go down there to meet with the new coordinator.  I'm irritated though that they didn't bother to tell us, or we could have met with her over the holidays.

The lay-off - Things always happen for a reason.  It always works out one way or another.  So I'm just taking it day by day.

OMG!  Your coordinator left?!  I hate to say this, but that goes down in my "nightmare" column. My coordinator at The Hall of State is my everything there.  Just stay on top of the new girl, and everything should work out. My fingers are crossed for you!

Have you found that wedding planning is WAY more involved and stressful than you expected?  I started the process wanting a "small" affair.  Its just grown.  Thankfully its not out of control... yet. LOL

Charlotte Seagroves is my hair stylist, she is at the salons on the creek by the Collin Creek mall. Plano pkwy and Alma. 214-929-1519.  I met her through my pre-law/law school friends, her hubby goes to SMU law. She is really relaxed and laid back, not stuffy at all.   My feelings wont be hurt if you don't use her.  Its just another possibility for you.

Thanks for the tip, I will definitely check her out!

And yeah I am not too worried about the new coordinator because we hadn't nailed down too many of the details yet--I am mostly just irritated that no one bothered to tell us.  Also, the original coordinator was great and would have been fine to work with, but I also thought she was a little condescending and somewhat sexist.  So hoipefully we mesh better with the new one!
