Snarky Brides

Morning SB'ers!

I'm working yet again (yes, it's a giant crime and I'd much rather be home in bed!)  What are everyone's plans today?

For me: work and then D&D...and it looks like we're going to get some hellish storms maybe.  Woot, woot.

Re: Morning SB'ers!

  • Hi there! What do you do that requires you to work on Saturdays and Sundays? That sucks. Matt works on Sundays. He works Sun - Wed and has the other 3 days off. It's pretty cool, but we miss him on Sundays.

I'm just sitting here watching Ben play Super Mario Bros while I finish the laundry. We are going to the pool in an hour or so and need to go to Target at some point today. We are so exciting.

Also, I have a huge zit on my face. I think it's actually a second face because I caught it laughing at me earlier. I'm going to name it Facezilla.

Haha @ the facezilla...zits are the suck.

I worked Sat. because a co-worker went out of town.  But my normal schedule is Sunday's through Thursdays...while I don't mind it, Sundays are b-o-r-i-n-g.  I'm the Asst. Mngr. at a convenience store :P
  • Ahhh! Jealous. All the kit kats you can eat. :)

Lol, yeah...I try to stay away from all the goodness here.  We have these little cakes...omg, they are to die for.
  • Yeah. I don't think I could handle it. Convenience store junk food is my favorite. I love the little debbie cupcakes.

Speaking of junk food. We went to Krispy Kreme last night and got a dozen doughnuts.  It's taking every ounce of willpower I have right now not to eat the shiit out of them right now.
  • Hi!  We arent doing a thing besides grocery shopping.  I messed up a reciepe and now we have 3 containers of mac n cheese in the fridge.  That is all we've been eating for 3 days.

  • OMG.  Kit-Kats are my favorite candy bar.  I'm just chilling at home.  Willing myself to get a couple hours of work done.  Nothing exciting at all.

FI and I were debating what to spend our $300 Best Buy gift card on, though.  I need a netbook, but we don't want to blow it all just on that.
  • Morning, ladies!

I just got in from some much needed exercise, so the first mission is to get some coffee. After FI gets back from playing basketball, the entire plan for the day is grocery shopping. Don't know if we have to go anywhere else, but I hope not. Did my part time gig Friday night and again yesterday, so I am ready to veg out.

Off to fix coffee and get breakfast at the moment.

Mmmmm...mac and cheese...that sounds awfully good for dinner tonight.</div>
  • Oh man...fresh Krispy Kremes...mmmm
  • I really want to try to make one of those homemade mac and cheese recipes. I've only ever made it from a box.
  • Hi there ladies! I'm pretty chipper this morning. FI just got home from work and told me he had an anthropology professor working on film as his patient last night, and apparently he talked about me so much that the anthropologist said he'd love to meet me. I feel all special. :)

Also, I saw Shakespeare in Love last night, and it was way, way, way better than I remember it being. I am definitely impressed.

Not sure what I'm going to do today... but FI doesn't have to go to practice this afternoon, so I'll have him for a whole five hours or so between when he wakes up and when he goes to work. That will be nice.

May I say that it's incredibly easy, and you don't know what you're missing? My recipe basically consists of cooking the macaronis, dumping in a bunch of cheese, milk, and seasoning, and then stirring until the cheese melts (maybe a minute). I will never go back to boxed macaroni.

Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes are two things that everyone should learn how to make from scratch, because they're really rewarding and miles better than the packaged alternative.

Yes, please! That would be awesome.
  • Sarah - what seasoning do you use?

Amen sista friend, co-sign and triple like.

If you bake the mac and cheese, it's even better. Dump the ingredients into a 13 x 9 pan, add bread crumbs if you like a topping, and bake at 350 for 35 minutes or so. </div>
  • Yeah. I kind of feel like someone should take my Southern badge away because I have no idea how to make mac and cheese.

I think just salt and pepper. I like it a little peppery. And I tend to buy pre-shredded cheese for stuff like this, since it's pretty much the same price as regular cheese, and I'm lazy. Cheddar is good.

I don't have my good cookbook here with me right now because I left it at FMIL's house during the insanity of the move, or else I would give you a precise recipe. :)

  • That's okay, Sarah. I can look one up on allrecipes.com.
  • I won't tell. ;-)

If it makes you feel better, I'd probably get my black people privileges revoked because I don't know how to make (and rarely eat) fried chicken.

    We can be exiles together.

Too funny that I've finally come out of hiding on a post to talk about FOOD! LOL
  • Hola chicas, I am just waking up.  FI has a softball game today so that is my only plans.

  • I usually just throw Velveeta in my mac n cheese, a little milk and butter and you've got some pretty tasty mac n cheese.
  • Ha, I'm not sure what I'd need to do to have my Jersey badge revoked. Maybe admit that I don't like Taylor pork roll?

  • I don't know how to make fried chicken either. I'm weird about raw meat, so I just don't know that I could do what it takes to make fried chicken.

  • Apparently, I am not yet smarter than the website and can't figure out how to PM this...but it's the baked mac and cheese recipe I use most of the time. It's from Weight Watchers, but doesn't taste like "diet food." I switch cheeses all the time and use spicy brown mustard instead of the Dijon.

    Good morning!

If it were possible, I would live off of Kit-Kats and Krispy Kreme glazed donuts.

Tim makes mac & cheese by combining one pound of cooked macaroni with two pounds of sharp cheddar and bakes it at 350 for close to an hour (until it gets crunchy on top)

I prefer to make my mac & cheese with a cheese sauce. I mix milk and shredded cheese in a sauce pan until it's all melted and gooey and then I pour it over cooked macaroni in a 9x13 baking dish. Then I stir in a pound of cooked chopped up bacon and bake it in the oven @350 for an hour.

  • How about Kit Kats, Krispy Kremes, Mac n Cheese...and I gotta throw cake in there too.
