Snarky Brides

Actual Wedding Post!

Okay......so I adore three dresses by Maggie Sottero.  I'm going to order one in the next week but I can't pick one.  I'm a very busty curvy gal.  All three have corset backs which is simply amazing (I'm also having a corset made) and the side ruching that makes me look more like an hour glass.

Honest oinions please!!

http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=A3427B This is Annalise and I wouldn't wear it with the jacket

I wouldn't wear the straps for this....

I'm going to get the dress in white.

  • I'd have to see you in them to say for sure, but I like 3.

  • I think I like the third best. I feel like you would need a pretty noticable hourglass figure (not to say you don't have one because I've never seen you!) to pull off the first two because of the volume of the dress.

Ya I totally forgot to take pictures because my mother was rushing.  She wanted me to try on every dress in the store.  She's loving wedding shopping even more than me....

Emily made my bust look the best....which is always super important.

I am very very very busty with non existent hips.  Dresses that aren't full in the bottom make me look lopsided.  I originally wanted a less puffy dress and I just looked silly.
  • Ah gotcha. Normally I equate busty with hippy....hmm...obviously you should go back (since it is 1am) and take pictures for us.

I was thinking that...I'll go harass the store owner into letting me get back into the dresses =)  I was there for like 3 hours 2 weeks ago and I still haven't made a decision.  I agree that usually busty means hippy as well.  I have the hips of like a 17 year old boy they are so not child bearing hips.

My bust makes me wear a 22 size wedding dress......my hips put me at a 10.
  • I like the third one the best.

    Thank you!

You guys are making this surprisingly easy....hmmmmm
  • Ha! I'm the other way around. I was "blessed" with ample birthing hips but not so much on top. I can normally wear a small on top but 10's on the bottom.

Its odd cause my entire family is built like you (basically the opposite way around)....its a family joke trying to determine where my bust came from.  I've always wanted an ass......seriously I have a concave flat thing.  Have you seen those ridic commercials for the underwear that has faux butt cheek pushups (like how a pushup bra works)?? I've gotten desperate enough to consider those.....but I know FI would laugh his ass off at me.
  • Hmm maybe we got switched at birth. Mom has quite a bit on top and these itsy bitsy little hips and thighs. Sigh...I think I was 15 when I started wearing bigger pants than her, and I was still little back then!

Possibly we were switched!!  I was a B cup when I was 9-10.....that was so not fun.  That was the last age when my mother and I had the same bust size.  It actually really messed up my competitive swimming......like I said I'd kill for an ass.
  • I didn't even hit B cup until I went on bc my senior year of college. Now I'm a borderline C but I'm content with that. I can't imagine being 9 and having to deal with boobs.

I think being 9 and having my period and boobs was the worst.  I'm hoping if I have any girls they take a bit longer to develop.  I was also tall I was about 5 foot which was tall for my class.  I was still tall by 8th grade at 5"5'.......and then I totally stopped growing.

My bra size is a 34 DDD/36 DD..loads of fun and back pain.  Thank god FI is a boob man or this really wouldn't have worked out!
  • Holy crap. I got mine at 17 (late bloomer much?) and thought it was enough.

One of my college roomies is 5'3, maybe weighs 110 pounds and has 32 DDD's. She's starting to save for a reduction already because she's starting to have back problems from the weight of those suckers.

I'm thinking of reduction......but everytime I say that FI whines a lot.  I'm losing weight right now so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I go down to a smaller DD or maybe a D.  That would be perfect.  I actually use acupuncture to deal with my back pain.
  • I just have to say....I <3 Maggie dresses! I had the Carrie and I think they can flatter any body type.

I am wearing the sleeves for the church and taking them off for the reception.

I also have a large D cup and love the sweetheart neckline.

  • I love the Annalise- but again, biased as that looks like the MS I came thisclose to buying.
  • I like the third one! It's really beautiful :)

And just to weigh in on the awkward body shape deal: I'm 6 feet tall and my bra size is a 40H so I hear you on the tall and busty! Thing is I am getting a reduction :)  FI is a little upset but it'll make me happier and leave me with less back pain so he's supportive :)

This is me exactly, except the difference is an 18 and a 10. A-line with more volume at the hip is the way to go.

I love Emily in the picture, but I think Annalise would look better on me, and therefore on you. Plus Analiese is my sister's name ;)

  • Personally I don't like any of them (I don't really like "traditional" wedding dresses because they're usually so poofy). But, I do really like the top part of the first.
  • Just to add.  I got my Maggie in diamond white, but i got the crystals in pewter because I liked how they showed up more pronounced with that combo.  The white with the white crystals blended in a little too much for my liking,  The crystals are not pewter, just the thread they use to sew them in.

That might be something to check out too.
