I was flipping through Google Entertainment news and came across an article that actually intrigued me. Not because it's about Justin Bieber... that part isn't intriguing. And definitely not because a woman is claiming that he fathered her child... that part is even less intriguing...
She might end up in jail for coming forward. See, if you follow the timeline, Justin Bieber would only have been 16 when the "sexual relations" occured. She'd have been 19. In California, that's statuatory rape.
Wait, that's not what intrigued me. It's what her lawyer said...
"The issue of statutory rape, even if she's guilty, hypothetically, that has no bearing on the duties to provide child support," said one of Yeater's lawyers, Matthew Pare. "It's a totally separate issue." So...
if she raped
him, he still has to pay child support... to
her?
I mean, not that he wouldn't want to help provide for the baby, but at that point, if she did truly rape him and went to jail, wouldn't he stand a chance of gaining custody? I'm just saying... in general, and not just in this instance, if a woman rapes a man... should he be forced to pay child support?
