So a friend on FB posted a link, politically based. H made a comment on it and friend and H had an conversation, though they didn't agree, but it was civil and intelligent. Then another rando guy comes in and says about my H, "you are retarded, your argument is stupid." Ok, no one says things like this about my husband and gets away with it. So, of course, I posted "Please don't call my husband that, and I'm sure the mentally handicapped would appreciate it if you'd have more tact in the future." So after about 20 minutes, H points out my post is gone. Original friend has deleted my post because he didn't want the inflammatory friend to get upset. Original friend and I are no longer friends on FB. I don't need those kind of people in my life. I like my friends, but I love my husband and no one says bad things about my husband.

So it's okay for his one friend to call your H "retard" and "stupid", but it's not okay for you to tell the friend that was really uncalled for, because it might upset the person it's directed at?

I had a girl I'd been friends with for 8 years randomly assume I insulted her over Facebook and proceeded to call me a loser with no life. I didn't take too kindly to it though, and it was kind of hilarious how enraged she got. I ended up defriending her after she had one of her "friends" come in to back her up and call me a cvnt and FI ugly and everything else their feeble little minds could conceive.

Of course, that's pretty much what you'd expect from an 18 year old girl who acts like she's 14. 

Moral of the story: People are dumbasses, and FB is way too much of an outlet for dumbassery.

It's weird that the original friend deleted your comment, but I might stay out of your husband's internet battles. Probably everybody would think it was weird on here if Charlie got an account on here so that he could say "And she's pretty too!" every time I posted something.

Sarah- I was part of the original discussion and it had died like 3 days ago. Then this guy comes in, gun blazing with this comment. Now if he'd said something like "Your argument is ridiculous and makes no sense," then I wouldn't have said anything. But I do not appreciate the use of the word 'retard' in most senses, especially when directed at someone who had done nothing to offend the other person.

Besides, this guy is one of those "I'm better than you because I know everything about everything." H and I have met him once before, IRL. He was slightly annoying but tolerable.
