Snarky Brides

Meet my new foster!

Hello ladies. I have a long story, but it has a happy ending.

My cousin's friends got a dog out of the paper.  The friends went out of town to see the dog. It was in a field, surrounded by a fence. They had to hop a fence to get the dog out. The owners let them know that if they didn't want the dog, they would just shoot him.

So friends took the dog. He is a 3 year old herding mix. The dog went in the back yard, and promptly found a large angled hole under bushes to hide in. For 4 days, he only came out at night to eat when everyone else was asleep. The friends basically didn't want to deal with the dog's issues. They were annoyed and so my cousin and I went over to see the dog.

He was, indeed, in a 4 foot angled hole, covered in dirt and shaking. It took 3 hours, and some chasing, but I got a muzzle on him, and got him into a corner. I picked him up and brought him  in the house. So the friend's dad let us know that the dog had nipped him before, and if he did it again he would just shoot him. (WTF people. You can't just shoot dogs.)

I called my Mom, who lives out of the city, and she let me bring him over to her place. Our friends who are trainers came and evaluated him. He was scared, but not at all aggressive, and they both said he will be a great dog. They're going to train both him and me, and I will be working on his issues until we find him a home.
It's only been a day, but he's doing so much better. He is scared, and does try to bolt when anyone but me comes near him, but he's getting better already. He will come in and out of his kennel willingly, and is starting to come when called.

He's been penned up and alone his whole life, so we will be doing a lot of socialization before he is ready for someone new, but I really feel that there is already someone out there waiting for him. I'm in love!
