JK - no.  But, I'm the ONLY person here, so I don't really have to do it, hence the knotting.

I'm so pissed off.  My boss' boss called me yesterday to tell me that she made the (basically) unilateral decision to force me onto light duty, switch me to days and to pull my dog because I'm pregnant, even though I have a doctor's confirmation saying that I'm perfectly fine to continue working full duty for however long I feel well enough to, or until it's medically necessary for me to go on light duty.  This means, no night differential, no overtime, and no fun K9 job.  I honestly believe that she thinks that she's doing it "in my best interest" but I really don't know where she gets off deciding what is in my best interest - that's for myself, my husband and my doctor to decide. 

I think I may have found a way to keep Trooper, at least for a little while longer.  Now I just have to convince her in a meeting on Monday.  At least I can talk about it today without crying.

Aw, Tide that really sucks   That's so dumb.  Good luck getting it figured out!  I wonder what kind of liability THEY have, you know?  I can't really think of any other reason for her to put you on light duty even when your doctor says you're good.

Duds - The biggest issue is that they don't want me to work around passengers, I guess for liability reasons.  However, I can still run him on the checked bags outside before they even reach the passenger terminal.  I can still do outreach events, and work cruise ships.  He may not be working 100% of the time, like he would be if I were full duty, but he would certainly still be an asset to the port.  If it's a money issue, I don't understand why they just wouldn't give him a few months on "light duty" too.  He may not be fully utilized, but I'll be back to work, and then he'll have another 5-7 years here, because I'm not going anywhere.  If they send him back, they're out the money that they spent to send me to training and get the dog, and then they still don't have a K9 here.  It's stupid.

I ache everywhere. I don't know how H works like this every day. My hands hurt, my feet refuse to work, skin all scratched up, I'm exhausted beyond belief. And I'm blowing dirt out of my nose. Someone make this misery end.

JK - my boss supports me, and the field office, who is "over" boss's boss, but not really "in charge" of them, supports me too.  I think it's more an issue of, she doesn't really understand what I do, so she's taking the most extreme action.  I feel a little better knowing that the field office isn't behind the plan, because I only have to fight one person.  I just need to write down my thoughts and present them on MON.  Luckily she likes me, and hopefully she'll listen to logic.

Well that sounds promising.  So I assume you're going to present the plan you just told us (about the checked bags and cruise ships and such) to her as well?  Because I think that might help.  Plus it will show that you're really very serious about this and wanting to do the most you possibly can.  I also definitely think you should point out if they send Trooper back they'll basically lose money.  Bosses hate losing money
