Morning!

Morning! I think our boards are finally fixed.  :Knocks on wood:

The headband I had you guys all help me find arrived in the mail yesterday.  It is absolutely gorgeous!  I also got a very belated graduation present in the mail from some family friends.  For about 10 seconds I thought it was from my SS so I got REALLY pumped.  But this present was fun too, and I still get to look forward to my SS, so it's a win/win!

It's international culture dressup day today at school.  I had some Senegalese outfits made for me while I was over there, so time to break those out of the closet.  I just hope they stil fit.  Otherwise I have no clue what I'm going to wear.

Have a great day everyone!

Re: Morning!

  • Im heading to work now. I have so many things to get to, work related, but at 10 I have to try and figure out how to get presale of the concert tickets im planning to buy for my husband for christmas. Its killing me inside not to blab about it to him, but the surprise will be even better if I can somehow wait 2.5 weeks. We bought "santa" paper lastnight so that I can start wrapping gifts. We have nowhere to put gifts, but I would still like to get started on wrapping. I also bought garland to decorate my desk at work, since you know I have so much time to do nothing but decorate my desk. I dont know WHEN I will, but I will. The end!
  • Ugh DJ I know what you mean.  I didn't work out for almost two weeks straight even and it killed me.  I can't imagine the past couple months.  But you can do it!  It might suck the first few times, but once you get in that groove, it will feel SO GOOD!
  • Morning. Chels, don't jinx us! Kelly on E said just that and almost immediately, TK temporarily glitched.

Today I complete the rest of my paperwork at the university, and I can open up my Blackboard to the students. I will have 19 total. Most of the coursework is done, I just need to upload it once I finish the ever-confusing grading crap.

Last night H wrapped the presents he got me, so now I have presents under the tree. One of them is big and soft and I'm so tempted to touch it. It's so hard to restrain myself. It's either a blanket or a stuffed bear I wanted. I NEED TO KNOW. Another one of them I can tell what it is by the shape.
  • Good Morning Ladies!

I am ridiculously tired - I slept like crap last night. It's going to be an early night for me, I think.

Sesh, I'm glad your mom is doing better - definitely good to hear :)

Nothing exciting on tap for today - we had a big meeting yesterday that got pretty heated, so I'm just staying out of everyone's way today!
  • Edie- It was a big game. I was bummed. :-(

  • Morning all.

My lungs are slowly recovering.  At least now coughing is starting to clear up some gunk.  I was not pleased to be awoken at 2am with wheezing and hacking, but, at least the drugs let me get back to sleep.

  • Good morning. I wrapped some presents for my nephew last night as a test for the dog and he failed. He grabbed one from under the tree and ripped the paper. So now I know I can't put any of my kids presents under the tree until I train the dog to leave them be. It might take a few days, but he will get it.

I have nothing going on today other than administering more employment tests. Now one of our rental agents is leaving and we need to replace him. We are also trying to hire four interns for our busy season. I will be testing people twice a week for a long time.

  • Duds, I would freak out too. My mom would probably pass out she is so terrified of roaches.

dj-what's funny is that I was bugging H to wrap my gifts so I could have something under the tree. Then he put them there and all I want to do is be nosy. I should have just let him keep them hidden.

Today I have to go to the store to see if I can find this movie H wants. I'm not entirely convinced it exists, but we'll see what I can come up with.

What movie are you looking for?
  • BJS - He said he saw a full-length movie with real actors, not animated, about Assassin's Creed at Walmart when we were there Sunday. He said it was in the new releases section, which I look at regularly and have never seen.

AC is a huge video game. You'd think there would be hype about a movie. Maybe it's just some small-budget, fan video type thing.
  • Hello ladies!

As some of you may know since I already posted about it on FB, I'm having an absolutely shiteous morning.

On my way to work, around 6:05am, I was driving behind a black Range Rover when they started chucking things out the passenger window (about 6' of toilet paper, etc). I thought "To Hell with this, I'm not staying behind this jackass" so I went to pull around him. Just as I reached for my blinker, the driver threw a baseball out of his window, which hit my windshield with a loud THWACK about 4" to the right of where my head usually is.

I followed him for a a couple miles while I was on the phone with FHP. I gave them his license plate # (from what I could read - it was dark and my headlights kept reflecting of his plate) and then pulled over because I was afraid my windshield would continue to crack if I kept driving.

FHP showed up and I filed a police report. They tried to run his plates but got nothing, so they called Sun Pass to see if they could track it down through their cameras since he used the Express lanes, but they didn't open till 8am. So, I came home and took some pics with my camera and a tape measure, and filed an insurance claim. Just waiting to hear back from my insurance company to find out which auto shop to take it to (since it's a German car).

  • Holy crap, mehg. Who throws crap like that out a window? Maybe he stole the car and was getting rid of the evidence.

    I hope they catch him.

Also, I found the movie online. I guess it does exist. Now whether or not it's still there is another mater.
  • mehgank, that's insane! I really hope they find that jerk. Who throws random crap out of their car window at 6 in the morning? That is so weird. Really sorry that happened  to you.

  • Holy crap mehg, that's insane.  I'm glad you're ok, but that blows about your windshield.  What a douche canoe.

  • Morning (again)
Sesh- I just asked H about the movie, and he said "I wish."  I think your H is making stuff up. ;)

I got to work and my new computer works great... except the 37 (!!) updates it had to install when I turned it on. Now it's pestering me to restart again.  #firstworldproblems

Other than that, I have leftover turkey bacon chili and I'm already excited for lunch. Is that sad? It's only 8am.
  • Wait. SESH! There's a tv mini-series about it? H just sent me this link.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1587390/
  • Thanks, ladies!

Sesh - I hadn't even thought of that. That would make sense, though. I could've sworn I got the license plate correct because I have pretty damn good eyes, so when they weren't able to run his plates, it made me wonder if something was up (fake/stolen plates, or something like that).

I just got off the phone with my insurance company, and they're going to send someone out to my house (rock on!) to replace my windshield between now and noon. No charge. Kind of awesome that I don't have to worry about driving anywhere or having to cab it back home or wait in a waiting room all day.

  • Holy crap, Mehg.  That's insane!  What the hell. Do you think they were still drunk from last night or something?
  • Steph, apparently it was a TV mini-series: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1587390/

So, it's probably lame and over-acted, but whatever. If I can find it, I'll get it for H.

Oh that's good you found it! I'm sure he'll be excited about that :)

Mehg - WTF? Seriously. I can't believe someone would do something like that. A BASEBALL? Really?  Hope you get your car fixed soon, I'm so sorry that happened!
  • Yeah Mehg, I'm still pissed off for you.  What a douchecanoe.  Who drives down the highway thinking "hm. I'd like to ruin someone's day via their windshield."?

Edie, I feel like this was probably asked to you yesterday, but how wasyour first day?  Are people nice?  I hope you settle in quickly!
  • That's really random, Mehg.  Awesome that the insurance company is sending someone out to you though.

We went and got a Christmas tree last night and it's in the house.  Emma thinks it's delicious.  It's going to be interesting trying to keep her away from it.  H had narrowed his choices down to two trees and we got the smaller one.  I'm glad, because it's about 4" shorter than the ceiling and completely fills the space it's in.  The other one would have bent over at the top and been weird.
  • Sesh- glad your mom is on the mend :)

Meg- I hope they catch whoever was throwing stuff out of the window, that could really have caused a serious accident & I'm glad you're ok.

Chels- thank you so much for your siggy!  I was trying to remember what Ross' replacement gesture was :)

I finally got my running shoes in the mail yesterday but I'm still trying to get over this rediculous cold (DJ- my FI gave me his cold too) so I am going to break those shoes in as soon as I feel better!

When I spoke with the FHP patrolman, he informed me that this is a felony since I could have, you know, died and everything.

And it happened so fast, I'm not 100% sure it was a baseball, but as you can see in this pic, the spiderweb from the impact is 4" wide, almost perfectly round. And a standard baseball is 3" wide. If it had been a rock or something, it most likely would have gone through the windshield instead of bouncing off like it did.

I should have become a detective lol.

ETA: I, too, love Chelsea's sig. I still do that to my brothers when they piss me off.

I used to work for an auto glass company, and for safety reasons there is actually a thin layer of laminate between 2 pieces of glass that make up your windshield. It's to prevent it from shattering like your door windows would do. So while it's not likely that something would break through it unless there was a really high-speed impact, you're very lucky you didn't go off the road and hit something and get seriously injured. I can't believe people are so stupid.
  • Sucks that FHP couldn't track down those asswipes!  I'm really glad you weren't hurt.

Finally got some decent sleep last night.  (Thank you Ambien) I'm ready to be productive today.  Yesterday morning, H called me.  The transformer right outside our house blew.  It's underground and blew leaves and snow out in a big cirlce in the yard.  It was smoking and everything.  So, on the coldest day of the year so far, we had no power.  Luckily, they got it turned back on within 6 hours.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday.  I need to bring in my Christmas stuff in to decorate my desk. Maybe I'll wrestle it onto the bus tomorrow.
  • I'm glad your power came back, BK.  That would have been terrible overnight.
  • BK- did you have any awesome dreams??

The radio station in town did a call-in one time where they had people tell their awesome Ambien stories. I was crying from laughing the whole way into work.
  • My dad has an awesome dream story from Ambien about him surfing (my dad is so not a surfer) and all the famous people who were out on the water with him. Then a shark appears for a chat. It's so weird.

I'd be kind of fascinated by an underground transformer explosion. Our lines are all aboveground here. I saw a transformer blow up in the worker's face once. That was scary.
  • Last year my SS and I had a whole conversation via facebook about the gift she sent me.  Then she started dropping hints all over the board about how she hoped her SS had gotten the gift, and she was worried because her person hadn't AW'd yet and all that.  I was like umm, we talked about this?  The whole conversation was conducted under the influence of Ambien, she didn't remember it at all.
