Snarky Brides

p90x

Have you used it? Did you love it or hate it?  What about the results? Did you see what you expected?

I really really want to buy it, but don't want to waste the money if its a crock of shiit.

Re: p90x

  • People who stick with it get really good results, or so I have heard. HOwever, I know more people who thought it was too hard and they didn't see it through, not getting any results except a lighter wallet.

  • It's intense.  If you've never lifted, or don't work out now, it will probably be too much.  It's old school dumbbells, pushups, pullups, and core work.  It's hard work.  DH and I love it and do the videos regularly.  I haven't followed the 90 day plan explicitly - I just do whatever video I want to do.   My daughter really likes the yoga video.

We got it on CraigsList cheap from someone who gave up on it quickly - don't pay full price on beachbody.com.

  • My friend did it hard core and followed the workouts and diets and had amazing results, but it was REALLY intense.

I haven't used it but FI's coworker flat out said it's rough, especially if you're not used to any kind of hardcore workout. I don't think it's a waste of money, but if you really want to stick with it I'd start up a basic workout regimen to get yourself prepared for it.

ETA: Just saw that you said you already do workout.
  • According to our PE teacher (who is a badass) if you struggle at all with 30 Day Shred Level 3 then this program will be too much for you. I'm interested in trying it but not for the money and not after knowing it kicks her butt.
  • It looks great on my shelf.

Honestly, I lift and it is intense. Personally I have a hard time working out at home but that is because we like in an 880sqft small two bed-room flat. There is barely enough room in this place for us and our stuff let alone my jumping up and down. I have done most of the workouts though and they are intense and you feel them the next day.

I don't think I could ever follow the 90 program with the diet as suggested but mainly because I usually only make it to the gym 3-4 times a week right now and I eat whatever I want. This would also be why I am a size 10-12 as opposed to a 6-8 where I would like to be,
  • One of my coworker did it last spring.  He was in great shape (very toned/muscular) already and even he had a rough time with the workouts.  He'd often come into work looking like he was in extreme pain. And he said the diet was hard to follow exactly and started becoming very expensive too.

  • One of my male friends used this system before his July 2010 wedding.  He lost 20lbs and looked great.

My FH's brother bought the system so I might borrow it from him.

My sister lost 30lbs last year by doing Jillian Michaels and Biggest Loser workout videos.  Her "Tone Your Trouble Spots" video is one of the most intense things I've ever done and I run marathons.
