Snarky Brides

Morning!

How is everyone doing today?  Anything good going on?

I finally got all of my 3rd quarter stuff done and I'm not telling any of my coworkers or my boss.  I figure if they busted their asses like I do all year long they wouldn't be slammed so hard in the last weeks.

Re: Morning!

  • Morning, B! Awesome about the job.

I'm good. I finally got back on a normal sleep schedule, so I woke up on time.  Which means I could actually do my hair (it's super long, super thick, and super curly, so it takes about an hour to dry.)  Little thing, but it makes me feel more... awake.. than a ponytail every day.

Funny WR story... one of the florists we emailed way back in March (and ended up never meeting with us after canceling the first appt) just emailed me.  It was all accusing and kind of mean, wondering why we never submitted our deposit, and telling me she NEEDS the names/titles of everyone who's getting corsages and bouts.  So now I'm trying to figure out the nicest way to say "um, no? We picked someone else, and you should know that, because you blew me off."
  • Morning! I just got back from bootcamp and I'm getting ready to do the dishes and assemble a minestrone in the crockpot so we have dinner tonight.

My final venue payment is due tomorrow so I have a meeting with the coordinator tonight. This also means I need to find the darn check book!

    Busy Busy!!

B- You are better off than I am. My 1st Q (7/1 year start) statements, in GAAP format, are due in 30 days and I haven't even started. This is my first time doing them since the switch of duties with my coworker. Plus, I have an NCAA compliance report due this week. Fun!

  • Oh no, Sarah!  Good luck getting those numbers done.  I've gotten used to handling way too much work here, so I kind of got into the groove of pounding out work.  Now that I have someone else helping in my department (even if he is dumber than a rock), I can get everything done much sooner than expected.

Steph- I'd go with something like "Thank you so much for your concern, but we are no longer in need of your services."   Leave it at that unless she responds again.

  • Morning. Steph, I would totally go with what you wrote as a reply.

I'm running on about 1.5 hours of sleep, so today kind of sucks. My cousin, 13, was in a bad ATV accident yesterday and was rushed to the hospital with severe head trauma. My mom was on the phone with my aunt when it happened and it turned into chaos because no one could get a hold of my grandparents, my aunt was panicking, I was getting text after text.

I found out just a few minutes ago that she is stabilized and has 30 stitches in her head. She has some memory loss, but they don't know yet if it's permanant or temporary. So guys, when you're on your bke, ATV, motorcycle, whatever, please wear a helmet. She wasn't and her mother should have known better.

  • That's so scary, Ses.  I'm glad your cousin is stabilized and I'll be hoping for the best for her.

  • Good morning.

I'm in a pissy mood because I overslept by 30 minutes which made me late for work.  And I'm ashamed to say I had my first wedding related meltdown last night.  I really thought I was going to make it through this whole process without one, but because people seem to become exceptionally stupid when it comes to wedding, I had one last night.

Thanks, B. They didn't think she was going to make it and even told my aunt that the trauma was so bad that they might not be able to get the bleeding under control. So we basically thought we'd lost her last night. It was horrible and I'm so thankful she's made it this far. I will be making H wear a helmet every time he gets on his bike now, even if it's just to ride down the street.

Also, shay, what was the meltdown about? I had one too the week before, it happens.

  • Good Morning, Ladies!
Sesh - so sorry about your cousin.  T&P to her and your family.
Shay - hang in there!  It's all going to be ok.
B - I'm envious.  My 3rd quarter work is not near finished, and we have an accelerated deadline for our regulatory work because of Thanksgiving.  And other regulatory activity that is kicking my butt right now.  So I feel your pain, Sarah!
    Have a great day, everyone

  • I'll end your jealousy right now, ladies.  One of our auditors is already here.  He wasn't supposed to be here until the second week of November.

  • Good Morning! I'm on my way out the door to go buy everything to make J's favorite meatloaf for dinner, as it's his birthday. I've also got to go get the rest of his bday gift and his anniversary gift. I didn't think that one through when we scheduled the wedding! Oops.

Futurepivko responded in MISSCOURTNEY's post about wedding shows last night. That made me CQTM. They could be BFFs. I hope they were smart enough to use a fake email for vendors. I doubt it.

Aww Sesh!  I'm glad she's okay.  T&P for her and your family!

Gah, one of my mom's cousins sent her a fb message last night that literally said, "Is it true little Sierra can't come to the wedding??!" - little Sierra's mom wasn't even invited to the wedding so how the F is little Sierra going to come!? 2- Quit effing asking if certain people are invited to the wedding five days before the freaking event! 3 - this person's sister who was not invited because I don't know why, my mom said not to because I've never met her (?) invited herself and a guest over the weekend (yeah a week before) and then called and told my mom yesterday to say that they changed their minds and were not coming. and 4 - and the thing that pisses me off the absolute most, is that this entire family (three sisters and mom and dad) were terrible to my mom and aunt and whole family growing up.  They always had this hoity toity attitude growing up and said that they were better than them blah blah blah.  And they have been the absolute WORST about the guest list.  For people who act so hoity toity they sure as hel! know absolutely nothing about how civilized people socialize.

That was my meltdown.  If it had happened a few weeks ago I probably would have been pissed but fine.  But five days before?  Not so much...

  • Good lord, Shay. Who does that?!? People are such idiots. I wouldn't worry about it. They only invited themselves if someone allowed them to do that, and if they're not coming now just let it go. Well, scream for a minute and then let it go. :)
  • Sesh, sorry to hear about your cousin.  Big hugs for you and the family.

Wes and I watched our wedding DVD last night and realized for the first time that our idiot DJ was singing karaoke style during some of the songs.  Wonderful Tonight was on and Wes was like, who is singing, because that is definitely not Eric Clapton.   Then he asked where we were when this was going on, and the video panned to us eating.  Just goes to show that no matter what goes wrong at your wedding, you probably won't notice.

  • ha ha yeah I know.  I screamed into a pillow and now I'm good.

  • Morning. Sesh, I'm glad to hear your cousin is recovering, that's so scary! And let me tell you, losing a cousin is hard.

Shay- I think it's ok to have a meltdown so long as it doesn't interfere with your daily life or get in the way of you and your FI's relationship. I had a fit 2 weeks before our wedding when MIL wanted to add more people. Um, no?

We had our house showing last night, but I haven't heard back from the realtor to see how it went. I hope they liked it. ::fingers crossed::
  • Wow, that sucks, Shay. And so do people most of the time. My meltdown was over something similiar, my uncle invited his almost-stepdaughter without asking me. I purposely left her off because 1, she was in jail at the time and I didn't think she'd be out anyway; 2, she steals from people (including her parents) and I didn't want our guests' wallets going missing (or anything from the cabin we were using); and 3, I don't even know her. I had a mini-freakout over it, then she ended up not even coming.

I'm so glad the wedding is over with.
  • Good Morning Ladies!

I don't have a lot of time but I wanted to stop in and say hi.

Sesh-I hope your cousin has a quick and full recovery.
  • Good morning ladies
Ses, T&P for your cousin, I always worry that Michael doesn't wear his helmet when I'm not around.  I get so happy when he gets home and has the little dirt ring from where he's had it on :)

I'm working from home today, I guess we are going to get some monster of a storm today so I didn't feel like being out in traffic with 60 mph winds.  Last night on the news they said "expect power outages and flooding." So I've got our laptop batteries charged up so we can watch dvds if the power goes out.  And I put up everything on the deck so we don't have to search the neighborhood for our junk.

We're getting it right now. There's a tornado warning a county over. I looked at the radar, I want to go home. I like storms but being away from my house during a storm makes me really anxious and panic-y.
  • Good morning! I was late for work again this morning. Someone rear ended another vehicle and instead of moving both vehicles out of traffic (like your supposed to do), they stayed in the middle of the road holding up traffic. Yesterday it took me 2 hours to get to work due to a pedestrian fatality. I realize that some people do that everyday (2 hour commute), but I couldn't. Oh, and it was 80 degrees at 6:30 this morning. November is next week! Where is my fall weather, Louisiana?!

It is true that pit bulls grab and hold on. But what they most

  • Sesh, that is so scary. ATVs scare me. Well, not not scare me in that I think they will hurt me, but the majority of times that I see people riding them they are 1) riding recklessly, and 2) not wearing helmets. They should just put "Brain Donor" stickers on them.

<div>I wondered about you guys in Indiana, we're next in line :(  I hate being away in storms too.  The town I'm from is only known for our tornados, so that has me worried a little. • Sesh- so sorry to hear about your cousin.  It sounds like she'll make it through though?  Ditto on the wearing helmets PSA.  It drives me insane when I see people biking (and motocycling), etc. without helmets.

    Bec- congrats!

AATB- are you around? You should join all this crazy weather talk! I heard you guys are supposed to get 8 inches of snow?!
  • Yay for 2nd interviews, Bec.  And I hope you get a second look from the people who saw your house, Mara.

    Morning.  : )

It's sort of just a normal day for me. I'm kinda excited because I have a freelance opportunity that could turn out to be kind of big. A friend and former co-worker is going to be on a reality show which will air on VH1 next week and I have the opportunity to create an entire logo brand for their private business which is talked about on the show a lot. I can't get into too many details at the moment, but I'm hoping it turns out to be a good opportunity for the experience and my portfolio.

I hope you all have a good day.  : )
  • Morning ladies, its just another Tuesday for me. Nothing too exciting going on.

Chi chi, I feel ya on the terrible humidity- where is FALL?!?
I guess all the tornadic weather has moved on- yesterday we had a couple hit down around here, and the tornado sirens never sounded. Nice, huh?

Sesh- how scary! I will keep your cousin in my prayers today. I am a huge supporter of wearing helmets. Its just too risky to not.

MFJ- that is friggin hilarious about your DJ

LTZ- that sounds awesome! Good luck
  • Morning all.

So sorry about your cousin Sesh =( My uncle died in an ATV accident a couple years ago.

Same old same old for me today.
  • Sesh, I am glad to hear your cousin appears to be out of the woods- how scary and awful.

We're having rain, a little thunder, and high winds today.  My legs are freaking killing me - I went for a massage yesterday because I've been running a lot and my legs/hips are in pain.  The masseuse did a lot of "deep tissue work" which hurt like hell.  I now know that when I go in for a massage, I basically just want someone to rub me, all nice-like.
