Snarky Brides

Good Morning!

It is way too early to be up but it appears my internal clock does not listen to reason...

We had people over last night for dinner and all the dishes (9 of us!) have yet to be done, the kitchen/dining room/living room is a mess and I have no interest in cleaning.

I have to write our TY notes today (or at least my half). The wedding was just over a month ago and we got our card about 10 days ago and I need to do it. I was a little put off when my MOH felt the need to tell me that her mother asked her if I was planning to do them. She told her mother I had plenty of time to get them out but now I feel like and ass...between report cards and interviews neither of us have had much time but now I have to get my act together. Getting DH to do his will be another thing. Why do so many guys complain about it?

What do the rest of you have planned?

Re: Good Morning!

  • Good morning.  I mailed 53 of 56 on Thursday.  H has 3 to do, his mom, his best man, and the priest (who was his teacher in High School, and has been a mentor to him for almost 20 years).   I am going to tie him to the couch (while carefully leaving his hands free) until he writes them today.
  • Morning!

Just sit down with TYs... once you start it's not that bad.  We did ours last weekend (yes super early, but I would've never done them otherwise.)  It probably took us an hour at the most, for about 100 (cards, not guests.)  One of my friends had addressed the envelopes for us before though, so that was a huge help.

What'd you have for dinner last night?  H and I are dying to have people over again, now that the wedding craziness has settled down. :)  We got a bunch of board games as gifts, too, so we're hoping to have a game night for everyone.

My plan for this morning was to get up early and go grocery shopping before the rush.  But, um, my entire parking lot is an ice rink, and I live on the bottom of a steep hill, so I'll have to wait for the sun to come out and melt it first I guess.  Laundry it is.
  • I got up to feed the dog.  Staying up with the intent of taking a LONG nap this afternoon/evening cause I'm working 3rd shift tonight.
  • Yeah, I am not all that worried about doing them...we have 60 cards in total to write, so I really only have about 30. It will be fine.

Last night the group of us were the people who go to St. Lucia to do volunteer work so we did a pot luck since there were so many of us. I had a busy day so I made my meals in the slow cooker so I could still go to the gym, the mall and get my hair done! I made pulled pork and chicken taco soup...mmm.

The past few times I have had people over (fewer people) I have made homemade mac and cheese with a green bean salad and the time before that I made moroccan shepherd's pie with a green bean/strawberry salad, a roasted pepper and tomato salad and a couscous salad.
  • 'morning y'all! The race yesterday was a blast. I wish I could have stayed all day with my friends, but I came back home early to take my fave 6yo winter shopping. Poor thing has outgrown all the jeans I got her in August already and the tennis shoes and hello kitty sparkly shoes have seen much better days. For winter she picked out purple suede Ugg-like boots and a hot pink coat with fur around the hood. They are so friggin awesome! I almost wish I was 6 again so I could dress like that every day!

Today I am cooking and cleaning and getting all the wedding crap ready to bring to the venue, which involves writing about 50 thank you for coming cards that we are using as escort cards. But, we drop everything off on Tuesday, so after that there' s not really much more to do but wrangle people. I'm happy about that.

  • Woo hoo Sarah, you so close! I remember that feeling. And the wrangling people feeling too!
  • Good morning.  I'm at work.  A while busy day doing nothing.  Goody.

I've started to go to sleep at, like, 9pm the last week or so.  Since DH has Taryn during the day, I do her night time routine - bottle, dinner, bath, book, and bed.  We sit in the bed and read, and then I let her fall asleep on the bed with me.  Once she's asleep, I'll usually put her in her crib until she wakes up at 3/4 am, and we bring her to bed.  Over the last week, I've fallen asleep with her.  At this point, I think I'm just going to start making my bedtime 9oclock.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

<div>meh, you are pregnant, with twins, you have good reason to go to sleep that early. I usually want to go to sleep that early and I am not pregnant!</div>
  • That sounds like a plan, Tide. I don't have kids yet, but since ithe time change I can't stay up past 9:30 anymore. I know it was weeks ago. Its just strange.

  • I was ready for bed at about 8:30 last night too.  This being dark before 6:00 is for the birds.
  • Good morning! Ben and I are watching Ratatoulie. Matt left for work a little while ago and I think today will be one of those days where we don't get out of our pjs. There has been some stomach bug going around and I think I may be getting a touch of it. Lame.
  • my favourite is when I get so used to going to bed early (like 9:30) and then in June, when school is still in and I am tired, I get into bed and it is still light out! That always makes me laugh.
  • Good morning, Ladies.
Don't feel bad, Number - you're not late.  Why do people say things like that?
Your party sounds like fun, Loopy.  I love hosting anything - bbq, potluck, dinner.
Game nights are awesome too, Steph.  We're hosting a graduation party in 3 weeks and I can't wait.  I think we'll do brisket in the crock pot so people can make burritos or sandwiches, plus lots of apps and chips/dips.  I might make the pepperoni puffs someone posted.
I can't wait to see pics from yesterday's weddings, and yours too, Sarah.
We're hiking at 9 this morning with friends and DH's son. Then, who knows?  We did yardwork and housework all day yesterday, so I need another plan.
    Have a great day, everyone!

  • H wants to go for a hike today.  Not sure if he's going to get out of bed anytime soon though.
  • Good morning! I woke up at 8am sure that it was afternoon...um no. I tried staying in bed with H but I was too wired so I decided to get up.
Today we're finishing our dining room floor so yay! It's going to look so amazing when it's done and I'm really excited it will be in before H's family gets here for the week. Then it's just lots of cleaning to get the place in shape for company.
  • Katie - you've got PM in a few minutes!

    Good morning ladies!

Sarah-I cant wait to see your pics, and also hear how you enjoyed your HM!

I worked our event at the mall from 1- 9:30pm last night. Its a large event we have every year with a fashion show, food, and shopping. And all the money goes to benefit a charity for Cancer survivors. Most of the models in the fashion show are cancer survivors, and they really enjoy it.

I didnt sleep well, my legs were bothering me. Very antsy I think. So I'm planning a pj day too Cew.

Are we having a virtual pajama party?  Will there be spin the bottle, pillow-fights, and pizza?
  • Morning! This is  a P&R, gotta get ready for church.

I had a fabulous day yesterday- really, really fabulous. It was so fun. Meeting the alpacas was great, the barn was beautiful. They even had a chandelier in there!
My shower was a blast. I didn't expect SO many people to be there, it really touched me. I couldn't believe they all loved me that much. ha I got 4 sets of cookie sheets, so Target needs to do something with their registry system. It officially sucks. Also got 2 food processors, 2 bread boxes, 2 sets of tongs..
Last night was FIs cousin's shower, and then we went to the movies to see HP. Good times.

I am hoping I can get on here later to catch up on weekend happenings! Have a lovely Sunday y'all!

    I wish Anna!

The cat may like pizza, but he's not a fan of pillow fights. But he is the cats pajamas!  I know corny.

Glad you had a great day Stacey. At least you can exchange all the extras for stuff you really need.

I wish we could have gone to the Alpaca event this year, but it was cancelled due to weather.

  • I love pajama days :) Today is definitely one of those and I'm happy I have no reason to leave the house today.

    Good Morning!

I'm just gonna have myself some coffee. FI and I love WaWa coffee but we don't have any around here so last time we went to Philly we stopped and picked up 2 lbs of it and I decided that I'm going to have some.

I keep thinking about the knottie weddings from yesterday. I'm really excited to hear from Blue, AATB, and LC about how everything went and see some pics.

Cew - I hope you're not getting a stomach bug, I had one last week and it was just terrible.

Anna - I will have a virtual pj party with you. We can play "Girl Talk". Haha, do you remember that game?

KD - I love the new sig pick.  : )

  • Hi all--I'm sitting on a deck in Mexico knotting.  Hubby is swimming in the waves with my Dad so I grabbed a quick second to say Hi.  I'm so looking forward to photos of this weekends weddings--I was thinking of the rest of the November group!  I'll post one of mine when I can get 5 seconds to download from my camera.

Cew, I love the Ratatouille movie!
  • Morning everyone. We didn't get home until 1:40 am this morning and I'm exhausted. Poor H has to work, but I don't think I'll be getting out of my PJs today. I'll do the laundry, maybe.
  • Hi all!

Drizzle and fog today; it's a great day to stay in my pajamas.  Had a wonderful night last night with my son - H was out for the evening and daughter was at a sleepover, so we got to spend some rare mother/son time together; it was very sweet.

I'm annoyed that H decided to wash all the pillowcases today.  Not that they don't need it, but he has this insanely complicated casing-within-casing method for each of the gazillion pillows on the bed and it's a huge pain in the ass.
