I found a seller I like and wanted to request a custom item from her so I clicked on the "alchemy" button under her profile. That lists it so just she can see, right?

I've ordered custom items just by private messaging the sellers.  I wasn't sure how alchemy worked either

That's what I did too. Just send her a PM. Worked for me

Boo, I already did the alchemy, im pretty sure it was ok though.

You can go general alchemy requests or requests to specific sellers, so you should be ok.
