I think you use different tools (crochet hooks vs. knitting needles) and the knots/patterns/whateverit'scalled are different.  I think crochet is looser in general too?

D, you crochet with two straight needles. Crochet is with 1 needle with a hook on it. The stitches look slightly different but I think it's mostly just a preference.

Ah, I never knew that.  Aside from recognizing specific stitches (?), can you tell the difference between them by looking at it?
