Do you have pics?

A poll on E made me wonder...
What is the WORST BM dress you've ever had to wear?
If you have pictures, I could go for a laugh...if not, describe please.

I was in my dad's wedding and I had to wear a "dusty rose" spaghetti strap dress with flowers on it.  I then used that dress to clean with.

  • I wish I had the dress from when I was a junior bm for my aunt.  HOT pink dress, huge poofy sleeves, shoulder pads, the whole nine yards.

My cousin got married in the mid 90s. I was a "junior bridesmaid" so I couldn't wear the same dress as the other girls, but I was 10 so I was too old to be a flower girl. So instead my cousin asked if we would have a dress made for me in a print to match the adult bridesmaids dresses (they were a solid hunter/forest green color). She chose an almost ... Victorian-looking? floral print, the same dark green base color as the bridesmaids dresses but with this totally 90s floral print on it. I did a Google image search for "dark green floral print" and came up with this http://www.carpetcloseout.com/productimages/LB-12815.r.jpg which is about accurate, except my dress was like a cotton so the velvety fabric from the picture is not quite accurate.

Do you remember the floral-print dresses Elaine always wore on Seinfeld? It was almost like that except at least 100 times prissier. It was a weird combination of Samantha American Girl doll and that 90s Victorian/floral style. It also had puffy sleeves and was down to my ankles. I don't have a picture THANK GOD. I was going through like the worst awkward phase then to boot so it was just NOT a good look.

  • The worst one I haven't even ordered yet. Its a $200 RED dress that my friend insists we wear for her wedding in March. It has no give at all and is so unflattering on my bodytype and skincolor. She knows we are TTC (as are 2 other of her BM) and she still insists on this dress.

Oh, and we have to wear gold shoes.

  • My best friend's BM dresses were horrendous.  In fact, one of my hs friends wore the same dress to our senior prom and, there we were, more than five years later, wearing the same thing. It was a long, a-line silhouette with nasty spaghetti straps and a draped chiffon overlay around the neckline.  They were burgundy, which didn't really work for a July wedding.

The funny thing is that friend is my MOH.  When we were shopping for my dress a couple of weeks ago, she admitted that she was nervous about what I would pick since she made us wear those terrible dresses.  She loves the dress I picked :).

I've only been a bridesmaid once and the dresses looked like green potato sacks.  They were so unflattering.  And we were forced to wear headbands with white feathers (they looked like something a 6 year old would wear).  The headbands were actually our gifts and I gave mine to my niece right after the reception.

ETA: Crap, I was going to post a picture but I just realized I don't have one on this computer.  Sorry.
  • Wow some of these sound horrific. I've only been a bridesmaid once, and it was my sister's wedding. She picked super cute green dresses, so thankfully I have nothing to add here :)
  • Yeah other than that really 90s-tastic dress, all the weddings I've been to or been in, and most weddings I've seen in pictures lately honestly, had really normal bridesmaids dresses. :) And maybe that dress was normal in the 90s I can't really remember haha.

  • I was in my cousin's wedding and she had us wear an outfit from the JCPenney catalogue. IT was a pink sleeveless turtle neck sweater (yes you read that correctly), with a cardigan that went over top and this chiffon knee length skirt with flowers embroidered all over it. This was for a June wedding and I looked like a middle aged high school teacher.

  • You all will just LOOOOVE this dress.... I ended up using it a few years later as part of a Halloween costume.  The photo doesn't even show the bow on the butt...  Talk about adding insult to injury...
  • Change Bkseller's dress to Fuschia, add the bow to the hip, and make the sleeves solid.

I looked like a big, fat grape at the time (I was quite large). Skin tight.  Probably 3 inches of cleavage showing. My now SIL's brother looked down my dress the entire time I had to dance with him. Considering he was 18 and I was 29 - gross.  Plus, I wore big plastic frame glasses at the time.

I love her dearly, but I hated that dress.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010
