I heard noises in the basement....

....and finally went down to check out what it was, with bat in hand (yes, I am hardcore).  I see this little guy flapping all around in the mud room!  The, it flies over my head into the living room.  Luckily it got stuck in the curtain rod, where I scooped it up into this glass vase.

When I put it outside, it just sat next to me and stared at me for about 5 minutes.  Then it flew to the railing and looked at me again, then the bottom of the steps, more staring, then finally flew away.  It was the cutest, tiniest birdie ever.

After further investigation, I found one of our basement windows broken.  Not sure how that happened.  It's a fairly tiny hole.  This little guy must have been pretty cold or hungry to decide to hop through that little hole.

The basement windows have decorative wrought iron bars on the outside, so I'm not worried about anyone getting in.  I am however worried about all the heat going out, or the heat running from cold air coming in there.  Looks like FI has another job to do!
