I have that too VegasGroom. I also designated a person to take care of my personal affairs should I ever be hospitalized for a mental disorder. I figure I'm a ticking timebomb since I have mental psychoses on both sides of my family (schizophrenia on my mom's side, bipolarism on my dad's side).

I developed that fear thanks to living here in Tampa where local resident Terri Schiavo was a vegetable for nearly eight years while her husband and parents sued each other fighting to take her off, or keep her on, life support.  It was really sad; MRI's, etc. showed most of her brain was dead but her parents clung to this hope that some miraculous medical treatment would bring her back.  I decided I didn't want that to ever happen to me.

Vegas - have you read Michael Schiavo's book?  It's really, really good.  It's called "Terri: The Truth."

You actually should NOT brush your teeth right after drinking soda.  It brushes the acid into the enamel and is more harmful.  You should wait about 30 minutes and rinse with water first.

I confess that though I'm not loving the idea of being umemployed, I'm not in a hurry to jump back into the working world.  I'm mentally and physically exhausted from my last job and I just want a break.

I also confess that I just don't miss people.  I think I lack that emotion.

I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. I always laugh when people say "I confess I didn't read the whole post"  I saw a couple in this thread.  Hell, neither did I.  I don't have the attention span.  Not so much confession-worthy though.

OWN, J's sister said something the other day that made me cold to the bone. "Our family doesn't have a long life span, so there's that."

Thank you, thank you very much. I REALLY didn't need to hear that. In the back of my mind I know it; his mother died at 60 - 10 years ago; they have no grandparents living, and only 1 aunt alive at 84. SD/Father is 70, but not in super health.

Now I get to worry about this. She really doesn't understand the concept of think before you speak.

Missy, that's terrible.   What a rotten thing for her to say!  I'm sorry.

In H's case, it's absolutely true, though.  His Dad died of a heart attack at age 52.  His uncle died of a heart attack in his 50s (not sure the exact age), and his other uncle had a heart attack in his late 60s, but lived.  That uncle runs regularly and is whip-thin.

My H is on cholesterol medications and his cholesterol is in the normal range now, and he exercises at least 5 days a week.  He is strong, but he's fat.  He's lost weight but he is still medically "obese."  He turns 51 in February and sometimes I can't shake the feeling that we are living on borrowed time.  It scares the hell out of me.

The case really interested me, too.  I felt for the parents - but I always kinda sided with Michael.  And after the reading the book (even though it's obviously biased) I still feel the same way.
