Snarky Brides

Some of our wedding guests are idiots

Random WR tid-bit for ya'll on this lovely afternoon.

My mom calls every day to read me our RSVPs - and so far, she says two people have mailed the RSVP card in a different envelope than was provided. And mailed it with their own stamp.

My mom thinks it's because the RSVP envelope matches the color of the invitation, and she thinks that they can't see the envelope because it blends in.

But you can clearly see the stamp. I know, because I stuffed every single one of those bastards. So, I just choose to believe that these people are stupid.

  • Yes, sometimes people are dumb. We had twice as many people come as actually rsvp'd for our party at home. Really, how difficult is it to leave a message on the phone or send a fb message?
  • I just like the title of the post!
Sadly, I know this will happen to us too.

  • Thats weird! If I get a wedding invitation, I search that thing for postage! If it doesn't have it, then I judge.
  • We got an invitation back because we thought we might have written down the wrong address... Nope nope... the guest got the postal service to return it, along with their rsvp so they wouldn't pay the postage!

When I got the invitation back, it was clearly opened, and there was no invitation, just an RSVP card!

    Okay that is just classic.

  • Imagine our surprise... I just put it in the next to-do pile, not realizing there was just an RSVP inside... The envelope felt lighter too... The guests insisted they sent in their RSVPs when we called them up...

Not to judge, but we were like oh ewwww!

  • Good god. Thanks for the heads-up on all this idiocy, now I'll not be surprised when some of our family and friends do this kind of thing. Who'd have thought that completing and mailing something with pre-paid postage could be so challenging?

  • The good thing with planning a wedding is I will never be late on RSVPing...ever..again..
I'm scared for when we send our invites out
  • On top of all this we're dealing with a crap-ton of people who apparently don't think they need to RSVP. My own grandmother pulled her invite out of her purse when she was out to dinner with my parents, talking about how nice they were. My mom noticed she hadn't sent in the RSVP yet and told her to make sure she responded. My grandma says "Well, you know I'll be there!" My mom says "Yes, but you need to tell us what you want to eat!"

Our best man didn't think he needed an invitation, and Ben had to explain to him about how the dinner choice went and what if he brought a guest, etc.

    JEEZ PEOPLE.

I totally understand the bitching that brides do in here about RSVPs. Before I was always like "Meh, just wait, they'll come in, if they don't, just call." We're going to be making a lot of phone calls.

[QUOTE]I had someone put a stamp on top of a stamp that was already on the RSVP. Like my postage was no good there.

Maybe it was out of habit? Who has bad postage out there?

  • haha these stories are funny. People are crazy. I didn't have too many RSVP hassles that were abnormal but I did have one girl who didn't send her response in so I called her and left her VM and then also sent her a FB message. After about a week we just marked her as a no but then weeks later, on the wedding day, she sends me a msg saying she won't be there. Um, thanks. Guessed that.
