Really pissed

How would you handle this? One of my professor emailed me through Blackboard and said I wasn't checking blackboard enough. She said I was only logged on for 5 minutes and 22 seconds in the past week. She said she was worried I would miss announcements.

1. I always check her emails and announcements, so I won't miss anything. Also I have to get on BB everyday to print stuff for classes.
2.  I am a good student and I have never turned in a late assignment or missed class.
3. I have my schedule in my planner and if something is questionable I check the syllabus.

She made me feel like I was some fucking slacker or something. I am not the only student she emailed either. We are really busy. It's not like we have time to just hang out on BB just for the funsies. I guess I need to just log on and enter her class everyday and just leave it logged in, which is pathetic.

If you grade wasn't in her hands I would ask her if there was a length requirement you had to be on blackboard each day. Tell her oyu missed that in the syllabus. But don't

I hve a B in her class, which is also bullshit but I digress lol. She's crazy I tell ya. Yeah I have a feeling she is just trying to be proactive (this is why I am trying to keep my cool) but it's driving me nuts. We don't have problems with any of our other professors.

Def a normal class. I have a 7 hour class with her on Wed. Yeah, I emailed her and asked her where else I needed to check for now on (in a nice way of course lol) She's had a lot happen to her so I am trying to stay calm.

My CC used to have Blackboard, but just switched to an even more awful site called Angel. I hate it so much. It took me 2 weeks to find the syllabus.

We don't have BB but we don have a similar set up and one of my profs will call be out in class and be like "Did you know that you were the top downloader this week?".   The first time he did it we were all like "WTF?" but now when he makes comments like that we just assume that he's fascinated by the technology.  Although, I wonder if he will grade my midterm differently when he can see that I haven't read some of the articles he posted.

FWIW, I hate blackboard as well. We are supposed to use it for some committees I am on, but I have no idea wtf I'm doing. I can log in, but that's about where it ends. Our students use it, but I'd be so friggin lost if my job depended on it.

Haha!  This guy was such a douche that when he berated me for killing so many trees I told him he was contributing to the downfall of the written word in our society, and that was something a teacher should be ashamed of.  Can you tell I've always been one of those people that speaks their mind? ;)

The first time I went to school we didnt have blackboard.

So the second time I went, one teacher would put the assignments on it.  I had no idea what blackboard was and tried to google it.  Yeah, no help.  I missed the first few assignments.

I was pretty embarrassed when I had to ask her wtf it was.

Right? And that's not what college is about. I remember my dad telling me, "I don't think any of my college professors gave a crap about whether or not I showed up for class. If you don't do the work, it's your own damn fault."

Instead of blackboard we have something called Moodle, which I just think is really funny.

Hey Ricks,

I did not read through the whole thread, but when I was in grad school we used blackboard to an extent and one of my professors did the same thing. Except, she talked about with the whole class. I agree with you for the most part. You really don't need to be on there for longer than 5 or ten minutes in some cases. For us, we would be on there for about 30 mins a week because there were discussions we had to have online. Still, according to my professor we should have been on there for 2.5 to 3 hours a week because that's how long our actual classes were (We used blackboard for half the semester to avoid people having to commute through bad weather and then physically attended the rest).

I just eye-rolled through the whole thing.

Ricksang - You can't help it if you are EFFICIENT!  You get all you need to get done in 5 minutes and whatever seconds a week looking at black board announcements
