FBIL and best man is not coming to the wedding because....

OF A FUCKING FOOTBALL GAME!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!

He's one of SIX coaches for a high school aged FUN non-rep football league. 

He sent message to me VIA FACEBOOK to tell me. No "I'm sorry" or "I wish I could be there etc." 

I tried to remain calm when I told fiance,but he was very hurt. My FFIL (their dad) is very upset as well.

I don't understand. FBIL and my fiance have a good relationship and nothing would have triggered him or pissed him off to make him not come. UGH!!! I'm so mad at him. I haven't responded to his stupid fucking message, and I'm just so angry and hurt he would do this to his brother.

Sorry, rant over!!

    Is your fi as upset as you are?  Maybe it's just "brother  dynamics" and your fi is cool with it.  Or at least it's just not that big a deal to him?

    Maybe he's also heard his sister's threats of being 9 months pregnant at the wedding and is afraid of having to watch her go into labor in the middle of the reception.

    He's got be kidding... Seriously, who does that? That is sad--really just truly sad. When is your wedding? Maybe your FI could talk with him and explain how important it is to have him there... Maybe your FBIL will realize that he's making a bad decision.

    I agree. This has to be a joke, and a really successful (albeit mean) one at that. He would have at least contacted his brother. Come on.

    My brother is one of our groomsmen and Just RSVPd decline.  This is his sense of humor and what he likes to do to make me crazy.  Hes coming.... and really if he doesnt I will find him and his girlfriend and I will shove him in the car and bring him to the wedding LOL.

    Hopefully this was a joke and he expected you to write back some remark where he could then say "Seriously you think Im not coming?".  Of course when I questioned my brother he said no sorry we wont be coming.  I know its not the easiest time to be joking around but I got a good luagh out of it.  Im sure its a joke, borthers typically dont do that.

    It could also be that he's just mad that you destroyed his brother's Play Sation game in a drunken rage.

    Maybe he just doesn't like you and doesn't want to come to the wedding. Or maybe he is joking. Or maybe even though it may seem stupid to you his football thing is important to him. No matter what it is you don't get to dictate what events are more/less important than your wedding. He doesn't have to go if he doesn't want to. If I were you I would just say "ok but we would really love for you to be there to support us on this important day in our lives and you are always welcome to change your mind and come." Then move on. Being mad doesn't really fix anything.

    Wow that's INSANE! One time after FI and I had been dating for about a year he told me he would come to my sister's wedding but would be missing the reception because the KU basketball game was that night. WHAT?! I told him he either went to the reception or he found another gf. I guess it worked out haha

    Often times OP does not give all the info. People often search past posts to gain insight on the problem at hand.
    Or, some one has made a reputation as a crazy and people remember. As in real life, how you present yourself on these boards makes an impression with people and that impression sticks. Accountability is important to many people, not all as you are well aware.
