Modern Classics bridal gowns

My FI and I went dress shopping on Saturday, she found a dress she liked and got the designer name "Modern Classics". We're having no luck whatsoever find a website for them. Any one ever heard of them/know of a site online that has their dresses featured? I told her to look online for her dress so she can shop around for price if she's decided it's THE dress.

I found one I like too, but I didn't have a visceral reaction to it, it's nice. It's not at all the style I had in my head, which could be part of it. My MOH told me at one point to get excited, I guess I was shopping as if I were just looking for a dress to wear for whatever, not my wedding. I don't know that I'm the kind of gal to get all emotional over clothing though. I have another appointment this Saturday to look at another bridal shop, if I don't find anything I like more I think I'll go with the other one. I don't know that I'll LOVE a dress, I think waiting for that moment will equal me not finding a dress in time because it may never happen. But fortunately my dress isn't impossible to find on the internets so I can price shop if I decide on it.

  • Don't worry about not getting emotional.  I didn't cry when I picked out my dress.  I just felt comfortable in it, so that's what I picked.

Now that I've had my last fitting though, I love it.  I think it helped to have my jewelery and shoes and hair figured out so I could picture it all together.
  • Thanks ILMD, we saw that too and she searched Alfred Angelo and it wasn't there. The only thing I can think is it is a small designer that just does not have a website, which I still think is insane in 2010 - kind of like places that don't accept credit/debit cards, as if I have cash to give them lol

I went dress shopping last weekend.  At one store, I had four dresses that I was just like "okay, I could wear these."  That was pretty much it.  I was rather dissappointed that I didn't have a strong reaction to any of them.

We went to another store, I put on the first dress, and was in love.  I had a real reaction to it.  I didn't cry or anything (I considered it when I said I wanted it a half hour later, but that was about it).  I bought it (picture down there in the old siggy) and am super happy.

Try on a few more dresses and see if you feel more strongly about any one of them.  Good luck!

And, sadly, I know nothing about modern classic gowns.

It's even more ridiculous when one of these places is in the major shopping center in the biggest city in the country. Thanks Subway. Do you not realize that with my purchase alone the debit machine/fees would've been paid for for a month?
  • I agree about the website thing, kcullen.  Depending on what the business is, I sometimes won't use a certain vendor/business if they don't have a website (i.e. photographer or something like that).

And I didn't get emotional about my dress either.  I was torn between two and I could tell my mom liked one more than the other (even though she wouldn't say because she wanted me to make the decision) so I picked that one.  I love it though and definitely don't regret it.  Don't get caught up on "that feeling" though.

  • Yeah, you don't have to get emotional. I giggled like a school girl. THat's how my friends knew it was the dress for me. When I went back to order it by myself, I had the same reaction. Now that its getting altered to fit me correctly, I have the "damn, I look HOT" reaction. That seals the deal for me.

Keep an open mind and go for what you feel great in. You want to feel pretty above all else.

  • Joy, I saw that in your siggy and I was going to ask if that was really you. I think that's the first bit of skin we've ever seen from you! And the dress is gorgeous!

And that'll be it, Sarah!  Thank you!  I really really love dress - can I wear it all the time?  No?  Boo.
