WR: New Question--Dress Opinions (ETA)

So now that I trust that netbride.com is legit, which do you like best?  I'm trying them on tomorrow. The color is Euro Navy, which is a deep, midnight blue.

I originally wanted this one, but now I'm meh about it.  I have a cute 50s retro dress that is the same shape, but different material (and in the same color).

I kind of love this one now, but I'd have it shortened.  (This is the color, btw)

Or this one:

OP, if you're interested:
Netbride.com
I have to order my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding.  My other friend really wants to use this site because it's cheap, but I'm always leery.  I am planning on trying the dress on in person.

  • I think that's a pretty popular site here if I'm not mistaken.

  • Okay, good.  I really haven't seen it posted, but I didn't want to order from some random site.
  • I think Netbride, RK (or R&K) and Pearls Place are the most common ones I hear about here. Check the budget board to see if they have anything posted. Usually there is a question a day about them.

  • Thanks, Sarah!  I'll check out BW.  I never lurk there.

I'm neurotic  and I never trust ordering online from a site that no one I know has ordered from.  As long as I know someone has used it and it worked, I'm good.  And their dresses are way cheap.
  • It gets pretty good reviews on the A&A board.

  • Thanks, Laura.

And I'll say sorry i advance for being an indecisive, PW as well :P.

I like the second and third.  How much would it cost to get the second shortened, though?

Edit: Did the bride ask for a certain length?  I'm thinking the tea length of the first one would look really bad on me, though I like the style.

I like the last one. I feel like the first one is just weird with the white sash, like your dress was too big so you borrowed a cummerbund from the band kid next door, and the length bothers me.

  • The sash is definitely a statement.  I was thinking there's a good chance the bride won't like it.

  • I'm in a civil union for one of my close friends and he's waffling on picking dresses at all. Neither of them have any preference whatsoever, except in color and I had to force that out of them.

The tea length is cute on me, IMO, but I have a vintage-y dress in a deep blue that looks just like it.  Even though I would get different uses out of this dress, I think that's why I'm over the first one.

I'm really liking the second one because of the straps, but I'm worried about the cost of chopping it, too. It would make a beautiful knee length (or slightly lower) sheath, though.  The third one is cute, but will I want to pull up a dress all night?

    I hate being indecisive :P.

Well, the first one can have the sash in the same color.  It's pretty in one color, but so ugly in the combo they chose for the pic.  Would that change your mind at all?
  • I like the first one, but without the contrasting white band. It just seems too wide. I think if it were all one color it would be perfect.

Give me a few and I'll see if I packed it with summer clothes or not :).
  • I think it would look MUCH better all one color.  And I do think the second is nice, I am just a cheapskate and wouldn't want the hassle of getting it shortened.  It would probably be easier/cheaper to get straps added to the third dress if you're concerned.

Not to totally throw you off, but J. Crew's final sale section has a lot of awesome dresses pretty cheap right now.  I'm a fan of the Sophia.  They're not returnable, though, which sucks.

  • I agree.  One color for option one.  Here is the link for it in Euro Navy.

Laura--the only thing they're holding us to is that we all order dresses from the same designer in the same fabric so they look similar.  So it has to be a Levkoff.  (I'll check out J. Crew for my girls, though, so thanks!)

Ha, no, Star.  I just have a cute, retro dress in the same circle skirt/tea length style and it's in a similar color to the one they chose for BMs.  Even though it's more sundress/work dress, I feel weird because they're so similar.

I am going wedding dress shopping next week though!

  • Oh boo. Bill Levkoff only, huh?  Well then I vote try on #1 all-blue and share pics.  Though I probably won't see them because I'm never on this board.

  • Thanks for the input, guys!  Hopefully, Macy's will have all 3 in stock so I can try them on.

I think 3 is definitely out and I'm liking one again.  Now that I see it in Euro Navy, it is a really pretty dress.  But 2 is so chic and I would definitely wear it again.  I'll see how they look on tomorrow.
  • I love 2 (shortened) and then 3. I don't think you can really loose any way you go, though. I think my problem with 1 is that I can't picture the dress without the sash and I'm not really diggin it.
