Snarky Brides

Oh government....

So I know I haven't been around much (work, school, etc.) has sucked up my life....but I used to be fairly vocal about my hatred of Obamacare.  Now I hate it not based on what I believe it will do but what I'm seeing it actually begin to do at the family practioner level regarding patients.

I work in medical billing, chart filing, etc.  I'm helping an office transfer all of their paper files into the required electronic charts.  You'd think that the government's top concerns about what goes into these charts would be, ya know, actually medical concerns but if you think that you'd be mistaken.  Top concerns are things like race, ethnicity, language spoken, if you've smoked (yes a medical concern but not a top one), your BMI (which anyone who knows about weight issues knows the BMI scale is completely flawed), etc.  The system is awful to use and requires a whole heck of a lot of time to use.  On average it will make most general practitioners only see half the number of patients that they currently are able to seei.  Awesome right?  Think how long people are going to need to wait for appointments

Also, doctors and their staff get paid $0 to transfer all of this information....unlike other professions where you charge by the hour and work accomplished.  All around for everyone a shitastic situation.
