Nah, it's my unpopular opinion. I happen to hate milk, but there's no other mammal on earth that drinks milk after childhood so to speak, and when they do it's not the milk of another mammal, it's their own.

I don't know the history of how people started drinking cow's milk, but I feel like it's kind of weird. Just not the natural order of things if that makes sense?

That costs money.  Minimum wage is up, profits are down, turnover is high and good help is hard to find.

It would just be convenient to be able to look it up in a jiffy.  NBD, but convenient.

I get what you're saying.  But I think it makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint.  We eat/drink the things that meet our dietary needs, and we may very well be the only mammal that is smart/developed enough to use other animals to meet our dietary needs.  I don't see it as any different than eating beef or chicken, personally.

A quick google search should turn up at least some of the things that are of public record.  I think I'd google the crap out of anyone before I hired them.

  • I think people abbreviate words way too much on here. Things like FSMIL of course make sense but come on, T-giving is only four characters shorter.

Also, it is apparently wildly unpopular to use the word "stupid" on my club board.

J&K - Yeah I definitely understand that. I just think it's gross and it's hard for me to figure out where along the lines people decided that another mammal's milk was better than their own, you know? ETA: Not saying that people should be gulping down human breastmilk but I just don't get what makes the cow any better or where someone was like, hey let's drink that animals milk now.

Ricks - I'm not a big dairy person with the exception of cheese.

I refrain from calling people stupid, and still cringe a little when people call someone that.  But I will refer to someone's actions as stupid.  And it ticks me off when people don't get the difference.

I agree with this to some extent. I do agree with J&K, that some offenders can be rehabilitated. I don't think that there is or ever will be a system that will 100% guarantee that someone has been rehabilitated and will not commit an offence again. The chance that it won't happen again, however small, is not worth it IMO.

  • I'm going to jump on the "I don't like milk" bandwagon. Yuck.

Although, chocolate milk is fabulous and so are pretty much all other dairy products. Just don't give me plain milk...that's nasty. And the worst part is that I WANT to like it...I keep trying, but fail miserably.
  • LTZ, I get what you mean.  A lot of adults have issues digesting milk for that reason.  Our bodies aren't really made for it and I only drink milk rarely.

Wrkn, I said inviting more people than you can afford under the guise that X amount will RSVP no is stupid.

I heard a gross (probably untrue) story about how chocolate milk is made from the milk of a lesser quality because it can get hidden by the chocolate flavour. Something to do with the over stimulation on the teets infecting them and making other white substances that get in the milk.
  • Nebb, why are you trying to ruin my life?

  • Thank you, Nebb, for giving me another reason not to like chocolate milk.

This is true. You opened a whole other can of worms that I never thoguht of. Can we ever assume that all jailed sex offenders are guilty? No, but I still stand by my original thought that it just isn't worth the risk of hurting an innocent child, or adult for that matter. I will have to think about this some more.
  • HAHA, I'd heard that too, Nebb. Thankfully, I inquired about it from a friend who works for Parmalat and she assured me that it's completely false.

RELAX, EVERYONE! Your chocolate milk is still wholesome and delicious!

I am just curious, not trying to be rude, where are you getting your info about hormones being pumped into cows to produce more milk? I am sure this happens some places but I am not 100% sure about Canada. FI's family owns a dairy and as far as he knows this is not legal in Canada.
  • There's a lot of dairy farms in my area.  The cows are treated properly.
I always felt more compassion for my classmates who got up at 4am to milk them everyday before class.
