[QUOTE]HAHA, I'd heard that too, Nebb. Thankfully, I inquired about it from a friend who works for Parmalat and she assured me that it's completely false. RELAX, EVERYONE! Your chocolate milk is still wholesome and delicious!

Can we ever assume that all jailed sex offenders are guilty? No, but I still stand by my original thought that it just isn't worth the risk of hurting an innocent child, or adult for that matter. I will have to think about this some more.

As far as I know, it's illegal here but legal in the US and other countries. But I'm no cow expert...I could be wrong.

I wasn't looking for for a reference. I just thought you might know something about milk/dairies that I should know. I have always been under the impression that dairy cows are treated humanely. If someone has info stating the opposite I'd like to know.

When I go to NC next month, I'll take some pictures for you. My dad has two pygmy goats that he adopted, and he named them Jesse and James. :) They're stinking adorable.
  • A BABY GOAT!!!!
    theyre just so darling.

I will never ever ever eat goat after finding out goats will play with you and can be like a pet.
  • My UO: I don't think anyone under the age of 16 or so needs a cell phone.  When teenagers start driving and/or working, I think they should have one for emergencies.  But before that? Nope.  And when they DO get one, I think it should just be a basic phone to make/receive calls and maybe texts with.  IPhones/Droids are entirely unnecessary at that age and when I see 12 year olds with one, I want to scream.

I don't know if this is actually unpopular around here or not, but based on the number of young kids I see with phones it seems pretty popular to the general public.

  • This is not one of my dad's goats, but if I didn't know that I didn't take this picture, I would swear that it's one of them. James

plays fetch with you, and will sit in your lap and eat apples. After he finishes eating, he snuggles and wants to lick your face. I wish I could bring him to my house..
  • My BFF's little goats will walk to the mailbox with them and follow them around and lay in their laps too.  Her little nieces are completely enamored.  She has a picture of the youngest one's (16 months, I think) face after a goat ate out her hand and then licked it.  It's the funniest look of surprise and delight I think I've ever seen on a face before.

My first pet was a baby goat.  When I was younger I 'helped' in the tobacco fields for something like 50 cents an hour, lol.
Which basically meant I carried around a hoe and stayed out of trouble.
I saved up some money and bid on a goat that I thought was pretty at a livestock auction.  It stayed on my grandparent's farm and I would visit it.
She had kids and I got to sell them at auction.

:-P The joys of growing up on a farm.

<div>Interesting.  I get that it's a little ridiculous for them to have them, but how does it bug you so much?  I plan on making my kids pay for a cell phone (or whatever the technology is at that point) if they want one, just like parents did.</div><div>

  • Scott had a goat in Uganda named Amacha and I was so jealous!  She was a pretty goat too.
  • LP, I was going to say that earlier, but I don't think it is unpopular to think that way.

My sister is 12, and has had a phone since she was like 7.  Granted, the first one was a pre-paid to call our Dad on, but now, she has way more expensive and advanced phones than I do.  And she changes atleast once a year.
She's been through two digital cameras, a DS and on a DSi now.

I'm against introducing so much technology at a young age, period.

  • I am not allowing H to see this thread. For some reason he is obsessed with getting a goat.... especially after the news story last night about buying goats to 'mow' your lawn. ha
  • FI always says I'm going to own a petting zoo when I grow up.

I also want a llama, which I will name Lloyd, and an aardvark, which I will name Aaron.

<div>As a disclaimer: I know that there are MANY other influences that play into this, and I'm not blaming it completely on smart phones.  But I do think they are a contributing factor.</div><div>
</div><div>I can't stand it when kids (or adults, really) are constantly on their phones.  I think that it decreases the amount of actual interaction that they have with other people, encourages the use of text speak and not paying attention in school.  And it general, it just annoys me.</div>

  • LP, when I was a substitute teacher a couple of years ago, the phones were getting out of hand.  It was SOO annoying.  Kids sharing ringtones and pulling out their phones constantly....UGH.

And my cousin's text speak on Facebook hurts my head and makes me doubt the future of our society.
