will someone help us?

it seems like more people on this board might know how to help us. We want to have this image of totoro cut out, with no white spaces around him. We would like to copy it and put it on a little card. How do we do this? We don't have photoshop.

totoro is the big grey one, we would like just him. Obviously if I go into a program like paint and cut a giant square around him, and we try pasting it on the card (which the background is red) we will have a block of white around the Totoro. We don't want that.

My only suggestion is to download the  30 day free trial of photoshop and then use the magnetic lasso or quick selection tool so select just him.  You need a high res image to do so that the edges come out smooth.  I don't know what other free programs allow you to do that.

that would be amazing!! we have no idea what we're doing.

It looks like you've gotten the help you needed, but if you ever feel like playing around with paint and photo editing software,  you should look into downloading paint.net. It's doesn't have as many features as photoshop, but it still has a lot more features than Microsoft Paint, and it's free. And fun! And I like Totoro!

I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the background. I'll PM you if I get it later today, but the designer needs his computer back right now.
