Snarky Brides

The movers are such a c0ck tease.

Our stuff arrived in Ohio yesterday and is currently about an hour away.  But will we get it today?  Nope.  We have to wait until tomorrow.

I get that it's Sunday and all, but I've been laying on the floor for a week!  My back is killing me because I have no good place to sit and feed Em.

Completely unrelated, I've been having issues with a tooth and started oil pulling to help it since we don't have insurance or a dentist for a few more weeks until DH's job starts.  It's gross, but I think it might be helping.  I need to go and do it right now, but I'm procrastinating.  You just swish a tablespoon of oil around in your mouth for 15 minutes and then spit it out.  Apparently it draws out toxins and stuff.  It tastes nasty, though.

What's going on around here?

  • Sorry about the tooth!  That's the worst. I get canker sores all.the.time (as does the rest of my dad's family.)  There's a non-alcoholic mouthwash that works wonders to help heal them.  I'm out of it, so I don't remember the name- Biotene maybe? That might help your tooth too?

    BTW. Em is absolutely adorable.
  • Sucrets - I had the WORST time with my movers - we had to basically arrage our lives around their f'ed up schedule.

  • Hi Sucrets! Sorry the movers are being assholes.
  • Boo for bad movers and crapped out teeth.

I second the Biotene, or whatever its called. I used it for a while when I had an abscess and no money to go get it treated.

  • Well, they first told us we would get our stuff on the 7th.  Then they changed it to the 11th, so getting it tomorrow won't be too bad.  It's just annoying that it's so.close. and we can't get it.

  • Well that sucks Suc.  Good to know about the tooth remedy though.
  • That sucks about the tooth.

Movers are a pain. The first time we used them we got 2 really large (not muscular) men who were more than happy to move a piece of furniture downstairs, rest 5 minutes, go back up. I think we moved just as many things as they did.

The second movers we used were amazing. 3 big Marines who moved like there was no tomorrow. We had no problems giving each one of them a $50 tip and buying them drinks (gatorade, water, etc) for the road.
  • Thanks for the tip on the Biotene!  Is it sold in regular stores or pharmacies?

    Hi sco!

K - the guys in Little Rock worked out and it was hella hot outside.  We didn't even think about a tip, but luckily had some cash on hand.  Hopefully the guys on this end will be awesome, too.  We have a lot of stuff!

  • Suc- I've always gotten it at Target.  It's a little pricey (maybe $8-10 for a bottle), but totally worth it.
  • Ours was just really freaking big and heavy. Then again, when the movers are all over 6'5 it made things a little easier. They easily saved us $200 by moving so quickly, so yeah.
  • Hi Sooks!!!

Steph- dude, thank you for that tip. T gets awfuuul canker sores (we're talking dime sized here) and he uses some like orajel rinse but we're going to try the biotene or w/e.

<div>Let me know if you want any more tips. My whole family gets them like crazy. FI does now, too... he blames me, but supposedly they're not contagious.  I used to use the Rembrandt canker sore toothpaste, which did wonders.  They don't make it anymore though :(  </div><div>
</div><div>I don't really even notice them anymore... I just thought about it, and I have 3 right now. Have him try taking L-Lysine (or something like that) vitamins, too. If I'm good and take them regularly, I notice I get a lot fewer.</div>
  • Awesome! I'll pass that along as well
  • roxy - there is a prescription paste that totally helps.  It's called Kenalog in orabase and you put it on before you go to bed because it basically glues the inside of your mouth to your teeth and forms a protective seal.  My mom used to get it from the doctors she worked with, but since she moved departments, she no longer gets it.

I hate, hate, hate canker sores and always get them when I'm stressed.

And, hi!  Even though it's hours later.
