$40 million you've got to be kidding

Okay okay I know there's been other posts about the royal wedding and people are probably sick of it, but I just read an article saying it's gonna cost close to $40 million. Unbelievable.

Edit: Apparently Diana and Charles' wedding cost $45 million

I have the same reaction when I hear people say their wedding costs $20,000. Then again, I"m just a poor college student.

I don't know, I guess to me overindulging isn't stylish, sexy or something I strive for. Now i get that they're royalty and that something grand is expected, but honestly could they not do a really beautiful wedding for $1 million and use $40 million for a charity?

ETA That it's a lot of money. I am not sure who is paying for it.  I would think the people would be paying most of it.

I hate judging people for the wedding budget.  Why is it our business how they want to spend their money on their wedding.

I don't give two shiits if someone wants to spend $50, $35k, $40 million on a wedding.  It isn't my money so it isn't my concern.  I do judge people who judge people based on their wedding budget and what they think the money would be better used towards.

Taxpayers are paying security but the Prince and Queen are paying for everything else.

See I don't really care what the queen spends her money on but I probably wouldn't like being a resident of England and having to pay my part of 33 million or whatever for security.

Definitely. I agree about not judging someone for their budget. Someone's $40,000 could be equal to my $4,000.. It's all relative. I admit sometimes I'm shocked at people's wedding budgets, but it's only because I CAN'T afford some of them.

But the country in general makes a ton off of the tourism and merchandise.  Not to mention the public appeal of the whole celebrity wedding.  Also, how else would they have a wedding without the security?  I don't think its logical for England to go around snubbing other countries dignitaries by not providing security.  Its what the taxpayers have to pay for in order to play on the world stage.

When you post that that is your reaction because you're a poor college student I take it that you want people to feel poorly. 

Its fairly typical on these boards to make people with a higher budget feel like crap for how much their wedding cost or is going to cost.
