Snarky Brides

Has this already been discussed?

I don't normally post here, but as a former college athelete, I am interested to hear what other people's opinions on this issue are:

So, if a transgendered man decided to hire a stripper, would it be a male or female stripper?

[QUOTE]I'm obviously incredibly supportive of trangendered individuals getting the treatment (both social and medical) they need to feel comfortable, but I think that this man is doing the right thing holding off on hormone treatments until he ceases to play for a women's team. There is a reason that women's sports are separate from men's sports, and treatments with massive amounts of testosterone would give one an unfair advantage playing against women.

I'm fairly certain that her opinion will be against whatever the majority opinion here is.  Then, of course, OP will argue for 5 pages before she rides crying into the sunset about how we didn't validate her opinion and how she should have never asked in the first place.  Drama llama, table for 1, please.

  • I am trying to figure out what being a former college athlete does to your opinion on this subject.

I had a lot of lesbians on my volleyball team in college, and I didn't give two shiits about it. If one of those girls turned out to be a transgendered male, I probably would have cared even less. When you are friends with a person you are friends with them, not with whatever sex they identify themselves as.

  • It turns out that I played against this person in high school, and am still friends with some of his ex-team mates.  I feel that as long as the person isn't undergoing hormone therapy it is fine.  I do think the NCAA should put into place some kind of policy regarding hormone therapies for any athletes in the mean time.  I mean, they already have a laundry list of substances you can't use, so I think they should add this in order to stop any potential problems in the future.

They do. It is called steroid testing, and they have been doing it for aa while or everyone would be taking testosterone.

  • Oh, I admit, I'm confused by the article.
He identifies himself as a man... but he has women parts and hasn't started treatments yet to become a man? If he is technically still a woman, then I have no issues with him playing on the women's team.... because of hormones and stuff...
But I feel like it's almost a lie or hypocrisy for people to call him a "he." Like, I don't have a problem with him being called that off the court, but while on the court, playing on a woman's team, then there should only be "shes" on the court. I don't mean to sound insensitive because I'm far from that, but I am trying to be logical about it.
