In Response to Re: I know it's friday, but where is everyone? : I'm not sure what they are called. Basically, the entire back wall of our house is windows, floor to ceiling, with some of them being sliding doors. They are covered with long white blinds that you open by pushing all the way to one end. For the actual regular-sized windows, it's the same thing just shorter blinds.  They are ugly, and constantly fall down because of the way they are inserted into the track. But it would be a major hassle to remove them, replace them with something we like, then have to reinstall them when we get our own place.

I think those are just called vertical blinds. And yeah, they suck. I feel your pain.
In Response to Re: I know it's friday, but where is everyone? : Is that what you called your Grandmother Sesh?? I ask because I did too. I've since learned that it's somewhat common, but I never knew that. I just started calling her that when I learned to talk and no one knew where it came from. I also called ( and still do) my Grandfather, Bepa.
    Posted by LessThanZero
Yeah, Mema and Papa on my mom's side (the very southern side), Grandma and Poppy on my dad's. I'm not sure where they came from other than Poppy, who named himself that because at the time he didn't want to be called Grandpa (he was a young grandpa).

My grandma is now known as Ama by my cousins, because they couldn't pronounce grandma when they were little. It sounds so cute when they say it.

Question: Which kind of bear is best?

We have vertical blinds on our back door and crappy $5 horizontal blinds on our windows. The only reason I like the vertical ones better is that our cats have broken 4+ horizontal blinds if I forget to put them up.

    That’s a ridiculous question…

I'm guessing that unlike me, you all have lives? Nope. Just finished packing, got to get to sleep early. Early train tomorrow!

What is everyone doing tonight?  making sure I didnt forget anything, hopefully able to fall asleep at a decent hour!

Do you keep any books on your coffee table? right now we dont have a coffee table, we are using one of those old sleepaway camp type chests that we put feet on. And it is usually covered in magazines, remotes, and junk mail that hasnt made it out yet.

What is something that you always wanted as a kid, but never had?  a bunk bed! I really wanted one. And years later it came up in conversation and my mom said  I never asked.

Do you have a landline or just rely on your cell phone?  just a cell

What's the best vacation you've ever been on?  New England road trip with the girls. It rained almost the entire time, but that just makes for better stories!

Favorite Thanksgiving food?  Pumpkin pie!! Anything pumpkin actually! And cranberry sauce! And turkey! ok Ok I cant pick just one I love them all!!

Blinds or curtains?  Curtains. Blinds are too noisy with my kitten. The curtains dont make as much noise when she is batting at them!

You're better off just using iTunes or something and paying for it. I used to use Napster, Kazaa and Limewire several years ago but I was only dl-ing a few songs per month here and there.

I'd rather just pay for it. At 99 cents for most songs I think it's worth it. I'd rather pay 10 bucks a month for what I DL than be sued for millions.
Did you ever notice how they always go after people who clearly can't afford it? Like the 12 year old that got sued for using Napster. I giggled when I heard the people from Hurt Locker were going to sue people because they downloaded the movie and didn't pay. Not for the people who were going to get sued but because the people suing thought they had the greatest movie of all time.
    Posted by avsfan33
Yeah it's so stupid. But my issue isnt so much that they plan on suing people who can't afford it, because how could they know when they look at the data?

My issue is that there are people who download a SHITLOAD more than just a few songs or a movie every once in a while, who never seem to get busted. It just sucks. Like I said, I know it's copyrighted material and artists/labels don't want to lose money.  But c'mon. It's one thing if people copied the songs and sold them as their own or something. But if you love music, you should understand, to an extent that the people dl-ing love it too. These are the people that buy tickets to your concerts and buy merchandise anyway.

    Edited for spelling.

I've heard a lot of bands, and met quite a bunch that have pretty much told fans that they don't care how they get their music, just get it. That's what it should be about.

Artists barely get anything from record sales.Obviously, they get a portion but not as much as they do from touring and merch. I'd rather buy something from a merch stand and download than pay huge record labels to go out and buy another vehicle. I used to download a lot but I never really listened to huge bands. This was before Itunes too. Plus, I lived in a small town where CDs used to cost 40 dollars and you were lucky if they got the newest hit artist let alone underground stuff. I prefer buying CDs because downloaded versions sound like crap but dishing out 40 dollars all the time was eating my pay checks growing up. Now that they've lowered prices it's not AS bad but still 15-25 dollars for 12 songs? Sorry not worth it. Especially since 90% of the music is autotuned.
