Cupcakes (Sorry CCF, actual cupcakes)

Okay, so my best friend and I get together every couple of months and bake. Since my throat will likely still be in pain on Friday, we're going with cupcakes. We've decided on making red velvet with cream cheese frosting, but I need some ideas for some fun ones. I'm thinking maybe float-flavoured ones (root beer or cream soda flavoured cupcakes with vanilla icing). Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Cupcakes (Sorry CCF, actual cupcakes)

  • Chocolate chip cupcakes (or ones with peanut butter and chocolate chips).
  • Ummm...can I be your best friend? Because that sounds like an awesome tradition if you ask me. Yummmm...

I don't really have any *good* ideas as far as flavors. Maybe something with lemon? Or pumpkin? Or peppermint?

    Yeah...idea fail. :|

  • As long as you're going with cream cheese frosting - pumpkin muffins are awesome.  And seasonal as well :)

Also damn you for mentioning red velvet.  There is leftover red velvet wedding cake at my parent's place that I more than likely won't get to eat because we may be snowed in for Thanksgiving.

Oooh I like the peppermint idea. Mostly because I can smash candy canes and they'll look pretty.

  • German Chocolate.  Chocolate with PB.  Pumpkin (I've got a super easy, fairly healthy, kickass recipe if you're interested).  Mint Chocolate.  Chocolate orange.  Chocolate cherry.

    Then send me some :)

You should :-) There is one cupcake in there that is SO pretty to me. I can't remember what she called it- something like sugar crown cupcakes or something. Its a chocolate cupcake, frosted.. then on top is this sugar "crown".. Its basically sugar, corn syrup, beeswax and something else that you make into a caramel, and string into these long strands, then bunch together. That probably made no sense.. but they are really pretty.
