Has anyone seen this show? It's pretty interesting. On TLC, of course. Several polygamy related questions:

--Why did Big Love start to suck?
--Do you think polygamist husbands have a favorite wife?
--How would you react if a new friend confided in you that she was a polygamist?
--Who would be your Knottie sisterwife/wives?

I have watched it, and it is freaky.

I think me and some friends are going to be sisterwives for Halloween. H will be the husband, and the rest of us will wear long denim skirts, a balloon under our shirts to fake pregnancy, and carry around baby dolls.

I used to watch when it first started but then stopped for no particular reason.

I think they do but I also think that first wife will always be top dog among the wives
--How would you react if a new friend confided in you that she was a polygamist?
I would be shocked especially if it comes out with no prior discussion like she just say "Hi can I borrow some sugar oh btw I am a polygamist"

I think it's creepy. I can't watch that show because the whole family creeps me out. However, "polygamist fundie family" would make for an amazing group Halloween costume!

I'm watching as rerun now.  I find myself being judgmental and think they are brainwashed.  I obviously don't know that that's true it just my opinion and how I can't help but see it.  I think the husband has a favorite wife...  probably the one he is actually married to (correct me if I'm wrong but the rest are just "religious" marriages not legal ones?).  And I would honestly feel sad for a friend if she said he was going to join a polygamy family.  We would still be friends but I'd be sad for her.

On an episode the other night the husband was telling one wife how the thought of her being with other men disgusted him so he couldn't even fathom her having more than on husband....  That's my biggest problem with it - the double standard

I watch it, I can't help it, I'm so damn intrigued. Yes I think he probably has a favorite, the new wife is definitely a hottie and I think if I was one of the other wives I'd probably be a little weary of that.

Is it just me or do these people all seem really immature?? The husband is always acting like a 13 year old and a couple of the women have mannerisms that remind me of the way I acted in high school.

Personally it would probably make me look differently at a friend if they told me they were a polygamist. This is partly because I think it's completely and utterly sexist and disrespectful to women. If my DH ever told me he had feelings for someone else and wanted a new wife, someone whom I would lose time with DH to, that would be heartbreaking. I can't imagine any man needing that many wives or being truly in love with 4 different women.

They seem like nice people, I just can't agree with their lifestyle. But I'm interested enough to watch.

I don't know, I only saw the first season and I thought it was entertaining. Too bad it fails now.

I would assume that their feelings wane and grow with all of them, so Im sure at any given point each is a favorite.

Id give her the stink eye and wonder how a friend could hide something like that. Also, I would biitch slap her. My friends are neither religious nor are they ok with another woman touching their man.
