Re: 16 & Pregnant

  • I'll be watching. I'm kind of addicted too. Although, I've gotten so used to Maci, Amber, Catelynn and Farrah that i think it will be difficult for me to like the new girls.

    I guess we'll see.
  • It's the new season tonight?  Ugh, FI is watching DVR'd Halloween from last night and I'm pretending to grade some tests.  I'll have to catch a rerun.
  • I'll be watching. I'm catching up on Billy the Exterminator right now, and I'll probably start 16 & Pregnant late so I can FF through the commercials.

  • One great thing about MTV..if ya miss it..don't worry..they will play it again 20 more times this week so you are bound to catch it again before next week.

  • Exactly.  I don't even have to DVR it.  Same with Bravo shows.
  • My TiVo effed up. So did they get engaged before or after she found out they were pregnant?

16 and getting married after being engaged only 2 months? The deck is stacking against her.

  • I thought about it. I never got into the other season and then I tried to watch an episode of teen mom and those girls did a good job pissing me off. I thought maybe if I start fresh I will have a better POV.

I am watching the Boise State/LA Tech football game at the moment with other things taping but I might try and catch a rerun.

  • Is this for real?  I didn't even know you could get married at 16.

    • I really wanted to watch it. It's actually just coming on but J is flipping between the Boise State v. LA Tech game and Wildlife Obsession. Boo!

It is true that pit bulls grab and hold on. But what they most

  • BSU will definitely be kicking Tech's ass tonight. I knew that before the game started but BSUs field is horrible to look at for 4 quarters. That's alot of blue paint. And  I love my Saints even though they lost to the Browns this past week. The Browns?!

  • This girl's voice is making me want to put papercuts on my eyeballs.
  • That field definitely takes some getting used to . I have been a fan for like 8 years so I love watching it on the blue turf. The Vikings are not anywhere near the Superbowl at the moment so I have to hope that BSU gets fair BSC placement.

Yeah, well losing the Browns is pretty bad. I have no room to place judgement however.

  • Has anyone else noticed that NONE of these people wear seat belts in the car?!  It freaks me out. Not that these people are exemplars of responsibility, but if you're preggers, it might be a good idea to strap yourself in.

  • ChiChi & Kayla- I'm ignoring all of this talk about the Saints game because I'm pretending it didn't happen. It didn't happen, right?

Which one? Them losing? No, that happened. I would like to pretend both last years NFC Champ game, and the 1st game of this season didn't happen, but they did. So thats, that.

  • This board never fails to disappoint on Tuesdays!  I knew I could log on and count on you guys to have this thread up and running tonight :)

And considering there are girls that get pregnant every year in every high school in America, I'm pretty sure MTV is purposely picking the ones who will show pregnancy and teen parenthood in the absolute least glamorous possible manor.

Very wise.  I hope it works.

  • Their discussion in the car about baby showers made me want to cringe.

Yes, I know a lot of girls here and the bump like to do Jack and Jill baby showers because "they are so much fun," but I beg of you, if he doesn't want to go, please don't drag him. There are several things I encourage you to drag your SO other to do regarding the baby. Sonograms. Helping to put the crib together. The actual birth. But not a shower with a bunch of ladies ooohing and ahhing over things he could care less about. It's pathetic... for both of you. :)

  • I can't believe those 2 actually got married.  WHat the hell were their parents thinking signing the papers.

  • Love this show! Although I'm much more addicted to Teen Mom. The girls on 16 and Pregnant just keep getting more and more annoying. I was disappointed in last season, hopefully this one is better.

  • I am new to the Knot and I can't believe this is my first post.

I watched this last night much to the joy of my fiancé. :P  It is so sad to me that girls can essentially set themselves up for failure at such an early age, before life has even really begun.  I'm not saying it can't ever work out but the statistics are clearly stacked against you.  It seems cyclical - her mom was apparently a young wife/mother as well.
  • Personally I can't stand that they glamourize teen pregnancy.  I think it sends the wrong message to teenagers that its acceptable to be a teen mom.  Call me old fashioned, but I was raised to have more respect for myself than that.

Yeah, the first season was much better than the second. I hope the series doesn't continue to decline.

I think they said how it happened was the mom asked them what they were going to do now that the daughter was preganant, and the baby's dad said "well, we're going to get married!"

They are getting married after only 2 months of being engaged, but I think they said they were together for 2 years before she got pregnant.
  • The show is a reality show.  It shows the struggles of being a teen mom.  It's not glamorous.  But it is addictive because it's so soap opera-ish.

But, I do find myself shaking my head in this day and age with all we know about men and birth control how girls would have this happen.  These girls admit to not using protection.

Sorry but why do you make statements like how could girls not know this was going to happen.  Last time I checked a guy was involved in the process of creating a baby.  Language should include both genders and not lay blame solely on the girl.
