Snarky Brides

*Beatles and M&M*

Any big anniversary plans for the weekend, ladies?

Meg - I never realized your b-day was so close to your anniversary.  Does Mike do double presents?

We're going to brunch Saturday morning at a place we've never been to, then we're going to drive around Austin and take some pics (cuz, clearly, that's what we love to do).  That night we're having dinner at this amazing sushi restaurant that I've been dying to try.

Re: *Beatles and M&M*

  • Awwww that sounds like an awesome anni, Julez!!

And yes, Mike does double duty :) Although, we are not huge present givers to begin with unless we see something we just have to get each other. He is smart enough to know he has to make both days special though haha. For example, I am getting him new golf shoes because I know he reallly needs them but refuses to buy them for himself.

We were going to go away for the weekend (believe it or not, I got a weekend off!) but Mike's stupid job absolutely NEEDS him to come in on Friday and Monday so it's not really worth it to go anywhere. Knowing us we will hit up Foxwoods for drinks, dinner and cards :) For my birthday we are going out with all the crowd from work plus my brother and a few local friends. My work crowd is pretty out of control so I know it will be an epic night.
  • Of course you're going to Foxwoods!  Keep your car away from that awful valet this time.

That sounds like a great couple of days.

My mom tried to convince me that getting married 3 weeks before my birthday was a bad idea because then I wouldn't get presents for both (and because she's crazy), but little does she understand what present freaks Christian and I are, so it's not an issue.
  • Hahah yeah - I don't even think we are taking that car considering how much I HATE the valets there. Assholes.

    What are you getting Christian?

Also, so many people felt the same way your mom did when we picked our wedding date. I was actually pretty shocked how often people we were worried over the close proximity for me. Weird, huh? On top of that, October 4th is my mom's birthday so a ton of people were like, "isn't she SO MAD at you?" Ummmm no, she basically teared up when we told her we picked that day because it was a special day in our family.
  • Ooh, that sounds lovely Julez!! Happy early anniversary to you! :)

Well, since my (and Meg's, haha) anniversary is on Monday, we're going to celebrate next weekend. This weekend we're having a party for some friends, non-anniversary related. :) Next weekend we're going to have dinner at our rehearsal dinner restaurant (in Little Italy), then probably catch a show at our favorite improv place. H is apparently making some special gift for me that is requiring more time, so we'll probably exchange gifts late, whenever his is done. I can't wait to see what he's made! I'm guessing it's something of a sentimental nature, which is totally not like him so I love it. :)

  • awww, Beatles I am so excited to hear what the present is!!
  • Meg, you can't help the whole birthday thing, and I think you handled it well. Someone's always going to have a b-day or anniversary around your wedding date if your family is big enough. :) My sister's birthday was a 1.5 weeks before my wedding, her husband's was days before, and my BM's was 3 days later! What can you do?

Btw, your b-day/anniversary extravaganza sounds awesome. :)

  • Beatles, I didn't realize you guys were into improv.  That sounds like a fun way to celebrate.

Now I'm totally intrigued about what your H is making you.  I assume it's not a mix tape, right? ;)

I was going to get Christian the Julia Childs cookbooks but then I had a major stroke of genius.  So, I got him the cookbook for the place where we went on our first date, 2 cookbooks from our 6 month dating anni restaurant (RIP Chanterelle), and a cookbook of Greek island recipes since we couldn't find a good one while we were on our HM in Rhodes.  I think he's going to love it.  Especially since he realized a couple weeks ago that Momofuku (our 1st date place) had a cookbook and went looking for it at BN.  He's so lucky he didn't find it and buy it.  I woulda killed him.
  • Ha! I'm not sure what a mixed tape from him would entail. We don't share much of a taste in music. ;) And yes, we love improv. We've been going to shows since we first started dating, after I got him into it. It's kind of our thing. They have some great troupes in Boston.

OMG, I LOVE your cookbook gift idea! I didn't know you had ditched the Julia Child idea, but this is so, so much better! If I were Christian, I would cry. Then make out with you, because damn, that's romantic. And a great paper gift. You are a genius.

I had a good paper gift idea too, but it fell through. I was going to get H Tosh.0 tour tickets for NYC, where his best friend lives. They love Tosh, and H never gets to see his buddy enough, so I was going to send him away for a weekend of relaxation and fun. But the stupid tickets sold out, then his friend was going to have other company that weekend, etc. Oh well. I might just get him a watch he's really wanted.

  • Haha, I don't imagine there's much of a crossover between Keane and Britney. Ooh, speaking of, what did you think of last night's Glee episode? Is it wrong that I thought Brittany was better than Britney?

Also, I have to bail to go to an appt., but I will check back later! Have a great afternoon!

  • I'm not a Glee watcher :(

    See ya later, Beatles!
