Snarky Brides

Good Reads

Heyyy...

I finally signed up for good reads and I now have the link in my siggy. I know nates and Starmusica are on it but if anyone else is, feel free to friend me and let's be weekly reading nerds together, mmkay?

Re: Good Reads

  • DId you friend me?

Oh, and everyone should feel free to friend me, too.  I love book recs.
  • No, I figured I'd just put this up and whoever had the good reads could friend me. I'm lazy like that.
  • Lazy beyotch.  (AND lovely beyotch :P).  I added you.  This is less pressure than FB, where I have requested exactly two KNotties and everyone else requested me.  I'm afraid of rejection.
  • I love good reads!  How did you get the link for good reads in your siggy?  I've been trying to figure it out forever.

  • Brilibby - Click the widgets tab and then scroll down and choose the one that looks like mine. That's a terrible explanation, but I tried.
  • Is this kind of like the virtual bookshelf on FB?

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • You are approved, Nates.
  • B- Yes. it's kind of cool. You can write reviews, get recommendations and chat about it with friends or start a book club. You should totally join.
  • LTZ, added. :)

I've got to get better at adding my books. I've got over 300, I think I've added 80.

Eeeeeeteresting.  The Virtual Bookshelf on FB taught me one thing.  I suck at reviews.  I get to "This book was good."  or "This book was terrible." and then I get writer's block ;)

I'll have to look into it.

  • I had a feeling there was a post about this, based on the HUGE (2) influx of requests I just got.  Ha.

It would take me forever to add all our books in.  Maybe when we build the "library" and are transferring things from the crappy Walmart book case.

  • That sounds cool, but I haven't been doing much reading lately. I think it might make me feel guilty about one more thing I should be doing.

  • Alli and Steph, I added you.   : )
  • Alli, we have a lot of book choices in common.  : )

I'm excited that you love David Sedaris. When I read all of his essays I would lay in bed and cry laughing sometimes. I want to re-read a bunch of them now.
  • Did you see him on the Daily Show last week?

  • So from reading this I think I find that Good Reads is a site like facebook for books? I think I might need to get into this.

Do you keep track of the books you read on there?

  • Alli, unfortunately no. I find it hard to stay up that late most of the time.

YIO - It's very similar to the facebook one except it doesn't have to be on facebook. You can add all the books you've read or the ones you want to read and rate and review them. Then you can compare with friends and get suggestions.
  • Here is the video. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-november-4-2010/david-sedaris

Starting at the 6:00 mark, he tells this awesome joke. It is only about a minute long.
