Snarky Brides

True Blood

Ok, we've talked about Glee, so can we talk about True Blood?
I'm really excited for Season 3 to start on Sunday; acctually, I've been excited since the cliffhanger they left us with at the finale of last season. I can understand leaving people hanging like that for a week. But for a whole season?!

Re: True Blood

  • I'm excited, but also sad because I might not get to watch it. We don't have HBO currently, so we just watched Season 2 when it came out on DVD. We're going to call tonight to see about getting HBO in time for Sunday, depending on the price.

But I saw the trailer online and it looked freaking awesome. I can't wait for some more Eric.
  • No. not allowed.  Only Glee talk.

I've never seen True Blood (or Glee for that matter), but I really want to.  I keep saying I'll put aside time to watch it and just haven't yet.  I really need to get on that.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • Same here, we don't have HBO :( But we're currently catching up on season two, which will not take long!  People who have HBO should have True Blood parties.
  • I'M SO EXCITED! I don't even remember the last episode of Season 2 though, so I'll probably spend Sunday re watching at least the last half of the second season. Was the Mary Ann crazypants story arc the first or second season? I was so ready for that crap to be over.

  • Second season, I'm still trying to figure out what the hell is going on with that.
  • Betrothed, it's addictive. I dragged my feet the first time. My mom had seen a few episodes and saved them and was like, oh you'll like it. I watched the first episode, and was like, okay, let's see the next. We watched four in a row that night.

We are ordering HBO this weekend so we can watch it in real time.

  • That's awesome, Zippity.  H refuses to give it a chance so I have to wait until he's at work.

I also think I'm leaving him behind with Mad Men because he can't decide if he likes it or not and I'm sick of waiting.

That's what I'm saying.  We watched the first episode a couple of months ago and I went to start the second episode and he told me he didn't know if he was interested enough to watch it, but he didn't want me to watch ti without him until he decided.  Well, if you haven't made up your mind in 2 months you lose this game.

  • I don't have HBO, but I really want to go back and watch seasons 1 and 2, and then perhaps 3 will be out on DVD or hulu or whatever. I just need time to do all that sitting still and watching TV!

Mad Men seriously makes me feel all first day of summer excited when it's on. I freakin love that show.

Yup Betrothred, that's definitely a H fail. FI got way behind me on the second season when he went on a work trip and I pretty much ONLY vegged on the couch and watched Mad Men. But I rewatched them with him because I like it that much.

  • Maybe he'll get interested midway through the season.  A girl can hope, right?

  • Ya know... if you're really on edge about the cliffhanger, you could read the books ;)  I know what happens 7 seasons from now.  I'm psychic like that.
    image
  • My mom tries so hard to "spoil" me on stuff she's read in the books. I tell her to "zip it" a la Kelly Bensimon.
    image
  • The books are actually so different from the show.  All that Mary Ann crazines?  Yeah, that didn't happen in the books.  And the body in the car at the end of Season 1?  It was someone else in the book.

I like the show better, honestly.

  • I think know who you're talking about. A beloved character is living longer in the tv series than he did in the book.

I think they did an excellent job in casting this show. I love everyone you're supposed to love and hate people I'm supposed to hate (Maryanne).

Can't wait! Lafayette is my favorite character, but Eric and Jason are certainly fun to look at. After last season I have a soft spot for Andy, despite him being a complete tool.

I was so over that Mary Anne stuff. It was interesting at first but they totally overdid it by making EVERY episode about her. Although, I did love the last episode when it was all resolved.

And I'm so glad they changed the person who died in the car at the end of the first season. I would have been seriously bummed if the other one died.
  • I fully intend on reading all of the books after the series on HBO ends!
  • I really like the song they play in the intro, but I have to hide my eyes after the girl is dancing on the ground because I don't like the decomposing fox.

  • Can't wait for Sunday!

I love that the books and the show are different-yet-the-same.  Similar characters, but different story arcs.

Also - the books feature A LOT of Eric, both content wise, and skin-revealing-wise.  Really hope the show follows that trend.
  • I am so about Eric at this point!!  Bill and the stuff with his maker just got old fast.  And the Mary Ann, Tara craziness got to be the point it was too much to be bothered with.  Best way I heard this show put was "after an episode... I so need a cigarette."  For girls with no HBO... do episodes get played on HBO.com or Hulu?

  • They say Eric will be naked this season. I hope so. I already saw Sookie nude, now for some Eric.

No, they aren't on HBO.com, nor Hulu - I don't think anything on HBO gets played on Hulu.  I have to watch my episodes illegally and in poor quality :(
  • I don't have HBO either, so I always watch them the next day online.  Cast TV usually has them.
