Grr Argh

I am SO frustrated right now. I've been looking for a job for a while, and I'm not having much luck. I left a really good job in the city when I got married. Now that I'm living in a small town, I'm way overqualified for the positions that are available around here.

I don't technically *need* a job, since DH's income pays our bills, but I'm going insane not having work. Also, the sooner I find a job, the sooner we can start saving up to build a house.

Plus, I know I've gotten spoiled since my last two jobs were awesome, and practically fell into my lap. So yeah, I'm feeling whiny, and impatient, and annoyed with myself and I just want a job. NOW! :P

End rant.

That sucks. I know how you feel. I have a job, but it's PT and less than 20 hours a week. FI can ALMOST pay all the bills, but I'd like to be in a position to support us, since his job can be gone in a second.

I've applied for 22 jobs within the last month and a half. Nothing.

If you don't NEED to work, can you volunteer? Or work PT at a Target or something? Maybe just for spending money and to get out of the house?

Ditto PP. Start volunteering doing something you love. That will make you feel fulfilled and maybe even open up some opportunities for work.

Azdancer, this is off topic, but are you fan of Joss Whedon/Mutant Enemy? The topic of your post reminds me of the sound the zombie in the Mutant Enemy production card makes at the end of the tv shows.

Ha! No, I totally said "Grr. Argh" in my head when I read it, and then it totally left my brain. I was thinking, "how the hell, does someone complaining about how she can't get a job, remind you of Joss Whedon??"

Ditto working part time. At least it will get you out of the house. Walmart, Target and places like that are pretty much always hiring for part time.

Those are my most favorites. FI got me into them about 5 years ago. I wish I had watched them when they were on TV. I feel like I missed a lot by just watching all the episodes in a row.

I cry every single time I watch Serenity.

Yes. HUGE fan of Joss Whedon. :D I quote his stuff a lot in my head, and apparently it occasionally slips out. DH gets it since we've watched all of Whedon's stuff together, but some people give me funny looks. ;)

Nice! I'm glad I'm not the only one although I'm more of a Buffy/Angel fan myself.

I've been rewatching all the Buffy season. The first two are so weird! Haha. Ahh how Cinematography has changed.
  • Options
Haha, yeah it's fun to go back. From what I remember it's pretty grainy right? I've actually been thinking about re-watching from the beginning. I haven't seen S1 in sooo long.

I actually applied at Walmart...no luck. I'm hoping businesses will start to pick up extra employees over the summer when we get more traffic up here. A lot of places are closed right now or have gone out of business.

In the meantime, I'm planning to visit the humane society tomorrow to see about volunteer options.

Not as much as you'd think.

I believe the phrase was, "We don't like to hire people with your qualifications. You'll just leave us if you get a better job offer."

That's great! We have an Animal Shelter, but they don't really accept volunteers. I don't think I could do it anyway, I'd want to bring every animal home. Haha.

I've tried all those places just to have something to do. But it IS true. I'd walk leave a Target job in a heartbeat for a job in my field
