OMFG Most insane RSVP decline! (kinda long)

So, my Uncle had not sent in his RSVP yet (deadline was two weeks ago) so I asked my mom to send him an e-mail just to see what was going on. She then received what I can probably say is the most insane response ever. My uncle is not coming to my wedding (thank god) and here are the main ideas of his response:

The other shoe of the economy is going to drop in the beginning of 2011 (with ya so far Uncle), this will lead to a Civil War and all out chaos (what?) in which dollars will no longer matter. So instead of doing irresponsible things with his money like coming to my wedding, he is investing in metals and stocking up a couple years worth of canned soup (wtf). He will not be coming to St. Croix because he's too busy preparing for the end of civilization.

He then ended his e-mail with "but have a great time". I kid you not, this was his e-mail.

Anyone else ever had a response like this?

• Your uncle is awesome. I would imagine he is also your Druncle.
• You should write to him and inquire whether his plan takes into account the potential zombie apocalypse.
• Glad he's not taking part of your wedding... That's a great memory to have :)

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart." ~ Miss K ~
• I did not...but it made my chuckle.

The only side-eye worthy rsvp we had was H's cousin. We sent her an STD and mil talked to her many times throughout the 8 month engagement. She sent in her rsvp with no because "I completely forgot about your wedding and scheduled a girls night. So sorry guys! Call me and we'll get together sometime!"

Cousin lives in Michigan, we are in VA. Ok...
• Umm...wow. I wouldn't even know how to respond to that, other than recommend that he invest in a really good can opener for all that soup.

Maybe invest in twinkies? They're supposed to stand the test of time
• I wish he was my Druncle. That would at least be more entertaining and endearing. He was a sound guy who went on tour with KISS in the 70's. I think he probably friend his brain with drugs and not even in the good funny way, in the mean and paranoid way.

FI and I have had a hayday with this which prompts me to ask, what items would stock up on in the event of a civilization collapse or zombie apocalypse?

• Bahah what an uncle?!

To answer your question no, hmm nope. No responses anywhere close to the end of the world.

But that really made me laugh out loud!! loved it!

• when 2012 comes, you will wish you were as prepared as him.
• If the world is going to end in 2012, I'm going to need a lot more Twinkies.

• I'm curious why he needs all that soup if we're all going to die.

That is pretty insane. I did have a friend of mine call me to rsvp, because she "sucks at mail." Uh, I gave you an envelope with the address on it, postage paid. The hard part is done for you, you dumb slore.

• Easy, dehydrated fruit and veggies, canned veggies, dry pasta and sauces, rice, lots of water, cans of soups, evaporated milk, jerkeys.
• I have a Drunky Unc-ky. He and my insane aunt did not want to put insulation behind the walls of our summer house because mice might nest in it. So I guess the millions of houses with insulations should have it removed, even if you live in New England, and freeze because mice might move in.

• I'd buy a Winnebago... or just steal one from Woody Harrelson.

• I would also stock up on wood for our fireplace, because there wuld be no electricity and we need a heat source AND a way to cook as well. I would also buy a hatchet.
• I guess we could get some apocalyptic MREs.

Back to the RSVPs my SIL said she got one back with NO!!!!! on it! lol, she did not even children due to it being on the lake at night

If you bring the twinkies, you can come share my apocalypse supplies.
• If I asked my H if he had an apocalypse plan, I think he would. He's ridiculously prepared for anything. Including bear attacks.

• I feel like Nebb has put a lot of thought into this :)
• Its something im very concerned about. Im still flipflopping whether it will be smart or a waste of money to start buying stuff in 2012. I know its stupid, but I stll might. Im very big into preparedness. I have a diagram of how my house will need to be baracaded as well in the event of zombies or social unrest.

Sigh... H has a box of MREs in the basement. The buffalo chicken isn't bad. We also have lots of canned food and several cases of water. I think there's batteries, a flashlight, a radio, seeds, and some other random stuff. H gets a little paranoid about disasters, manmade or natural.

You'll have to join the military, Nebb. Camping and trail stores have freeze dried meals.

• I think the military would laugh at me if I tried to join. I will look into it further, we have a camping store near by.

You can't get military MREs. But there are civilian MREs. From what I understand, it seems like the MREs H has in the basement are very similar to the MREs his cousins have in Afghanistan. When they were home, they were explaining the different foods in their MREs. Most sounded like the stuff H had.
• I actually like some of the freeze dried meals. The brand I had was Mountain something. They are hella expensive as well.
