Snarky Brides

Social Liabilities

Everyone has that friend...
The one who's a Debbie Downer...
The one who drinks too much and gets tossed out of bars...
The one who your other friends remark "what's up with him/her?"
The bar slut...

Yeah...my cousin is 'that guy' who got tossed from the bar tonight after being there for 1 hr. ONE HOUR! He's far too 'friendly' for his own good and irritated enough people that they tossed him, leaving me to apologize to anyone he encountered for his over-reaching behavior.

Now I'm drunk and at home by 10:30//..

So...who's the social liability in your life? who are you most embarrassed by when out and about? who gets kicked out of places?
Indulge me...

Re: Social Liabilities

  • I don't really go out, so I don't have any liabilities in my group.

However, I did used to work at the bar so I've many a story about people like that...
  • I use to have a friend like that.  I wonder how she's doing these days.
  • I don't go out anymore, but when I did, I had friends like that. Or rather my ex had friends like that and sometimes he was one of them.

When we broke up once, my friends A and N came out with me in Austin (we were in college about 2 hours away). We were in the club maybe 2 hours, and we lost A. N and I were on the dancefloor when someone came up and tapped me on the shoulder, asking if I was ::butchered last name::. Apparently A was puking so hard in the bathroom that she couldn't stand up and she just kept calling for me. Getting her out of the bathroom, down stairs, and all the way to our car 10 blocks away without getting her a public intoxication ticket was an adventure, especially when the heel on my boot broke halfway to the car. Then we had a 2 hour drive home.

Oh, what a night, and N and I still remember it pretty clearly even though it was about 10 years ago.

  • My ex-BF is that person.  He got too drunk every time we went out to our local bar, and most of his friends simply tolerated him but didn't really like him.  He was banned from one of our favorite spots because he was a jerk every time he set foot in the door and they finally got tired of it.  Several of our friends told me I deserved better way before I realized it.

  • I feel like in college it's one thing, but to be 35 and that obnoxious...time to grow up ya know?

I'm still kinda pissed at him. He texted me at 8 this morning to see if I wanted to come see his new apt. He probably is already drinking.

  • Yeah, at 35 its way too old to be "that guy". WAY too old.

  • I don't have people like that in my life anymore, I systematically eliminated them.  :)

  • I have a friend that consistently drinks too much when she has her car and we are with her. Then we have to either 1) wait until she is sober enough to drive, which means we are hanging out later than we wanted, or 2) we drive her home, which means we have to drive her back to her car the next day. I am pretty sure she does it even when we aren't there, and who knows how she gets home.

This is going on even though she got into an accident a year or two ago after drinking too much. Luckily she crashed on the dirt road leading to her house, so she and no one else was hurt, but is was a big effing deal. She was still living with her parents at the time, and they rightfully flipped out.

When she gets drunk, she makes everyone crazy, and since she is always broke, she expects everyone to pay for her. I love her, but she is making me crazy.

  • I have no friends :(

I do have a nutty coworker though, and a lot of times I'm apologizing to teachers on her behalf or extremely uncomfortable when she's being an ass/idiot and I'm sitting within earshot. They always give me that "do something!" look.
